Day 5: Below the Line: A carefree run by my daughter when she was three years old at Cultra captures a moment of pure, unbothered freedom every child deserves.

Lough Neagh is very close to my heart, having spent most of my childhood along it's shores in

It sits at the heart of Northern Ireland touching 5 of the counties with its shores: Antrim, Armagh, Down, Derry and Tyrone, but this vital center is choking on toxic blue-green algae.

Day four for Ulster and Focus 26 turns our most precious water into a canvas for environmental alarm. We cannot look away from the disaster in our waters.

Day 1 of Ulster in Focus 26.
We are starting with 'Don't make a scene'.

This is my can covering femicide and domestic abuse. The visual uses a photo taken from the beach in Ballycastle, looking out towards Fair Head.
On the surface, it is a beautiful, idyllic seaside scene, but rippling under the surface in our society lies another reality.

PSNI stats show that every 17 minutes, someone in Northern Ireland phones to report a domestic issue. These are shocking statistics.

The Northern Ireland ratio for femicide hits us incredibly hard here on this top corner of this island. It leaves me with a heavy question that we all need to face: why is it more dangerous up here for women?

I am so proud to be a part of the Ulster Society for Women Artists, who have chosen Women's Aid NI as their chosen charity this year. This contribution to this series is my way of leaning into that vital support and bringing these critical issues to the forefront.

Song: Feels like Heaven by Fiction Factory is about the feeling of having escaped a toxic, emotionally, physically damaging relationship
