PORTRAIT OF MYRIAM
By Robert Lenkiewicz.
Oils On Panel
Circa 1978
Project Painting
Myriam was a remarkable and striking person who added an exotic and colourful quality to the Lenkiewicz Studio throughout the late seventies and early eighties.
Her raven black hair and her bright red poncho lacked any familiarity in Devon. Combined with her high cheek bones and piercing dark eyes all added to a unique sense of style.
This was particularly evident in Plymouth at that time a remarkable place but not exactly overflowing with exotic characters.
An important and close relationship developed between Myriam and the artist over many years.
Myriam was an exceptionally good model for the artist being able to sit perfectly still for many hours. A rare and important gift.
They stayed close friends for many years.
