🎉 What a first day! 57% Funded!

We’ve now secured a total of £8,560 towards our £15,000 target to open a Community Reuse Hub and charity shop in Moretonhampstead.

This includes £6,000 raised before the Crowdfunder launched, plus an incredible £2,560 donated by 23 supporters on the first day alone!

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated, shared and supported the campaign so far. Reaching over half our target so quickly shows just how much support there is for affordable reuse, reducing waste and creating something special for our community.

We’re Proper Job, a registered environmental charity based in Chagford, Devon. For over 30 years we’ve been helping people reduce waste, reuse resources and live more sustainably.

Our boutique-style shop in the heart of Chagford, selling quality pre-loved clothing, vintage finds, homewares, books and unique upcycled items.

🌱 Every purchase helps support our charity’s work, including repair cafés, workshops, talks, films, community events and children’s activities that encourage people to waste less and live more sustainably.

📦 Want to donate? Donations are accepted at the Resource Centre by appointment only. Please call 01647 432985 to book a 30-minute slot and we’ll help you unload.

Something exciting could be coming to Moretonhampstead… ♻️

You may have heard it through the grapevine!

We’re exploring the possibility of transforming the old newsagents opposite the Co-op into a vibrant community reuse hub, giving local people a place to donate unwanted items, shop affordably, reduce waste and support a more sustainable future.

But this isn’t a done deal yet.

To make the project a reality, we need to raise the funds required to get the space up and running. The good news is that we’ve already raised over £6,000 towards our £15,000 target, thanks to the incredible support we’ve received so far.

Behind the scenes, we’re busy filming and preparing our community crowdfunding campaign, which we’ll be launching soon. The campaign will give everyone the opportunity to help bring this exciting project to life.

We’re looking to build a team of supporters before the launch. If you’d be willing to help by sharing posts online, delivering leaflets, displaying a poster, telling friends and neighbours about the project, or supporting the campaign in any other way, we’d love to hear from you.

Together, we can create something really special for Moretonhampstead.

📚 School’s Out for Summer – Free Books for Children! ☀️

We know the summer holidays can be an expensive time for many families, so we’d like to help ease the pressure a little.

From Monday 20th July until 5th September, every child who visits us can choose one FREE pre-loved book to take home.

Reading is a wonderful way to keep children entertained, spark their imagination, and support their learning over the summer holidays. We hope this small gesture helps make the break a little more enjoyable.

📅 Offer runs from 20th July to 5th September

If you have any good-quality children’s pre-loved books that your family has outgrown, we’d be incredibly grateful for donations to help keep this initiative going and ensure even more children can enjoy a book this summer.
