Deadheading might feel like a small job, but it can make a big difference. ✂️🌸

We’re back at Audley End, taking a closer look at the trial beds and why regularly removing spent flowers from plants such as Cosmos and Sunflowers can help keep the display looking its best and, for many varieties, encourage more blooms. 🌻✨

A little maintenance for a lot more flower power! 💚 Are you keeping on top of your deadheading? 👀

☀️ One flower that flourished in the heat? Statice.

Statice performed brilliantly through this summer’s heatwaves in the Fothergill’s Trial Field, earning its place on our must-grow list for hot, dry summers.

Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, its vibrant, papery flowers bring the perfect splash of cottage-garden colour to borders and containers from June to September. With sturdy stems and long-lasting blooms, it also makes an excellent cut flower - beautiful both fresh and dried.

Will statice be on your sowing list next year? 🌸

We promised you an update… and the trial field grasses have certainly delivered! 🌾😍

This time we’re taking a closer look at Fluffy, Panicum and Melinis Silver Queen, now really coming into their own.

Rather than growing them in traditional lines, they’ve been planted in clumps, creating beautiful layers of texture, movement and shape across the trial field. 🌿✨

Safe to say, they’re looking pretty spectacular! Which one is catching your eye? 👀

Have we just discovered the secret to perfect cauliflower rice? 👀🥦

We took to the streets and got a very specific method for turning cauliflower into a seriously tasty side dish… and we’re taking notes! ✍️😂

Would you give this one a try?
