Hi Everyone! We are a family of new beekeepers, starting our beekeeping journey in August 2021.

Just been to our fellow Kendal Farmers Market Traders cafe for breakfast.

You cannot beat Kitridding Farm Shop and Cafe for breakfast! We travelled 40 minutes just to go there for food. Amazing staff, really friendly and incredible food. Well worth the journey out!

Sat now eating some of their millionaires shortbread with a brew!

Have you ever stopped to listen to a tree that's buzzing with life? 🐝🌳

Today I found this tree absolutely covered in thousands of aphids. Many species of ants actually "farm" aphids, protecting them in exchange for the sugary honeydew they produce. But where ants aren't collecting it, the honeydew coats the leaves below.

As the evening drew in, the tree came alive with bumblebees, wasps and flies, all taking advantage of this unexpected sugary feast. It's a reminder that even something most people see as a "pest" can play an important role in supporting other wildlife.

Nature is full of fascinating relationships, and it's these hidden connections that make it so incredible. 🍃

What an incredible day yesterday was! ☀️🚆🏛️

Through the heat, the train delays and cancellations, and the mad dash across London to make it to Westminster on time... it was all worth it because...

🏆 WE WON! 🏆

A massive congratulations to Kendal Farmers Market, officially crowned the 2026 National Food & Drink Champions by the Countryside Alliance! What an incredible achievement, and one that is so richly deserved.

It was a real privilege to be invited to the House of Lords alongside some of the fantastic producers that make Kendal Farmers Market so special.

A huge thank you to my brilliant train buddy Laura from Martindale Muscovies - Free Range Eggs, who made the journey so much fun... and to Laura from Eden Yard Rapeseed Oil, who got to experience the delights of a hot, crowded London Underground! 😅

Days like this remind us what an amazing community we have. Brilliant people, incredible local producers, and now a national award to celebrate! ❤️

We'll see you all this Friday, 9am–3pm, at Kendal Farmers Market!

☀️ We’re here all day at the award-winning Kendal Farmers Market 🍯🐝

Unfortunately, our bees have stayed at home today. In this heat they can overheat very quickly, so their welfare comes first. ❤️🐝

It's not just honeybees that sometimes needs a helping hand!

This beautiful bumblebee obviously smelt our honey room, as it was on the window this morning. I easily scooped it up, and as it wasn't moving much I thought I'd try give her a bit of honey.

Safe to say she lapped it up! Even bumblebees love our heather honey!!

We are down at at their open farm day, tomorrow 10-3pm!

While we’re obsessed with all things honeybee (and rightly so 🍯🐝), it’s easy to forget—they’re just one species here in the UK… out of over 270 species of bees!

Globally, there are only 5 species of honeybee, but more than 20,000 species of bees in total.

And here’s the thing 👇

It’s not the honeybees that need the most help—it’s our bumblebees and solitary bees that are really struggling.

Take this incredible little species, often nicknamed the “witch bee”… famously seen “riding broomsticks” in this brilliant clip from David Attenborough.

They might not make honey, but they are vital pollinators—and without them, our ecosystems (and food supply) would look very different.

So next time you think “save the bees”… think beyond the hive 🐝
