It’s definitely hesperis season. Also known as sweet rocket, this biennial blooms in May with either white or purple flowers (or occasionally a pale pink if you’re lucky).

I don’t bother to sow it any more; I let a few plants go to seed and it does the job for itself. My meadow is brimming with it. 🤍

It’s my birthday today… and what a lovely gift to wake up to — finding out I’m a finalist in the Muddy Stilettos Awards for Best Florist in Cheshire 🌸

I had no idea I’d even been nominated, so this really has come as a genuine surprise. Thank you so much.

As many of you know, this year has been incredibly hard. Losing my mum and dealing with the grief of that has left me feeling quite untethered and unsocial, and I know I haven’t been very present here.

Which makes this nomination feel even more meaningful. So truly, thank you.

May 2025 and a sea of Totally Tangerine geums, and what a spectacular perennial geums are. Long flowering, two good flushes every year, strong, self-supporting stems and zero fuss.
I have plans to press and frame lots of these this year.
