We’ve just published our full honest review of the Trek Marlin 6 Gen 3 — link in bio.

The Marlin is the world’s best-selling mountain bike for a reason. Gen 3 brings updated trail geometry and a dropper post fitted as standard — proper upgrades, not just a new colour.

We’ve been selling Marlins for 15 years. Here’s what we actually think.

Stranger Things understood that feeling perfectly.

There was a time when a bike meant far more than just getting from one place to another.

It meant your mates, long days out, hidden places, slightly spooky adventures, and only going home when you were hungry… or, more often than not, cold and wet.

When I was a kid, me and my mates used to go looking for old abandoned buildings or places that felt like they belonged to us simply because nobody else knew they were there.

The bikes have changed a lot, but that first feeling of freedom is something every generation understands.

A great example of a bike set up for a specific job.

This Powerfly Equipped is heading out today to the South Downs Authority where it will be used for remote site visits across the Downs.

To help carry equipment we’ve added a Topeak MTX rack bag with drop-down panniers, a Burley trailer for larger kit, and a dropper post so the bike can easily be shared between riders of different heights.

The first thing I ever did with an e-bike was attach a trailer and take my kids across the Downs. I wasn’t sure what the bike would cope with, but it handled it easily and we had a brilliant ride.

Afterwards I checked the small print to make sure towing didn’t affect the warranty. It doesn’t.

In fact the Bosch motor system used on these bikes is the same one used on cargo bikes designed to carry far heavier loads.

It’s a really versatile setup and a great example of how these bikes can be adapted to do all sorts of jobs.

In the early 80s the Raleigh Burner was the bike to have.

Inspired by the BMX scene in the US, it suddenly turned school playgrounds and bike sheds into unofficial race tracks. Raleigh couldn’t make them fast enough.

I’ve got one here in the shop at the moment and it still looks brilliant.

Amazing how a bike like this can instantly take you back to being ten years old again.

Did you have a Burner — or was there another bike you dreamed of owning?

We still get quite a few people asking about the Trek Powerfly 5.

It was one of the most popular bikes in the Powerfly range for years.

But Trek have now updated the range and the bike that effectively replaces it is the Powerfly +6.

It keeps the same Bosch-powered hardtail platform but adds updated components and the larger 800Wh battery as standard.

So if you’re researching a Trek Powerfly 5, the closest current model is the Powerfly +6.

Occasionally we also see Approved Used Powerfly 5 bikes appear when customers upgrade.

If you’re trying to understand the differences between the models, we’ve broken everything down clearly in our Powerfly Buyer Guide.

You’ll find the guide via the link in our bio. bikes

Before Powerfly, before full suspension… there was this.

Last week I mentioned being a Strika boy.
Here it is — my Strika.

Well… technically it’s my son’s.
I bought it when he was little so we could have the same bike.

He’s seventeen now. So I think that moment may have passed.

It feels a shame seeing it just sitting here.

Do we restore it properly… or leave it as it is?

Which Trek Powerfly actually suits your riding?

The +4 is the entry point into Trek’s full-power Powerfly range — proven Bosch system, strong value, and more than capable for most South Downs riding.

The +6 steps things up with a larger battery and upgraded components, better suited to longer rides and more technical terrain.

The FS+ adds full suspension — more comfort and control on rough descents or longer days in the saddle.

There isn’t a “best” Powerfly. There’s the one that fits how and where you ride.

If you’re unsure, we’ve broken the differences down clearly in our Powerfly Buyer Guide.

Save this if you’re still deciding.

There are plenty of great bikes available today.

What often gets overlooked is what happens after you buy.

Trek offer a lifetime warranty on frames and a two-year warranty on the Bosch e-bike system. In nearly 30 years of selling Trek, I’ve seen how they handle claims — quickly and fairly.

When you’re investing £5,000+ in a bike, that matters.

We believe in standing behind the bikes we sell.

If you ever want to talk through the differences between models — or just want reassurance before making a decision — we’re always happy to help in Midhurst.

There was a time when this was the bike.
The one you circled in the catalogue. The one your mate got before you did.The one that felt like freedom.
The Raleigh Chopper wasn’t just a bike.It was a statement.
From old adverts…To Blue Peter reviews…To tearing through the streets to Alright…
It shaped a generation of riders.
And maybe — just maybe — it’s why some of us still love bikes now.
What was your first “proper” bike?
👇 I’d genuinely like to know.

Range anxiety is the number one concern we hear when people consider an electric bike. “What if it runs out?”
“What if I misjudge it?”
“What if I’m miles from home?” It’s completely understandable. But modern Bosch systems — like those on the Trek Powerfly — are designed to be predictable, adjustable and transparent. You can see your remaining range in real time. You can switch between assist modes to conserve battery. And in Eco mode, the distance most riders achieve is far more than they expect. The reality? Most people don’t run out.
They just learn how it works. We go into real-world range, battery size options and how to choose the right setup in our Powerfly Buyer’s Guide. Confidence matters more than claimed miles. If range anxiety has been holding you back, come and talk to us. — All Ride Now
