Nothing says Spring more than a new delivery of gorgeous products from 🌷.

When the buying team recently visited Namaste’s showroom in Skipton they were met with a total treasure trove of gorgeous sustainable homewares, fashion and gifts 🤩. Narrowing them down to a small selection for shelves was tough!

But, we think we have the perfectly curated collection for this Spring and Summer ☀️. We’ve got vibrant, hand-embroidered cushions, recycled tea paper notebooks, hand painted jugs and mugs, accessories crafted from recycled sari material and so much more 🙌. Not only do Namaste’s products look good, they do good too. Every piece is sourced from fair-trade makers around the world and support the development of traditional artisan skills within communities in Nepal and beyond.

So, whether you’re refreshing your home for the new season, looking for a thoughtful gift or just fancy treating yourself to something (and why not!), pop into in our Gallery shop and discover something special ✨

We’re delighted to welcome The Or Foundation to Manchester Museum Shop 💚

The Or Foundation epitomises style with purpose ✨. Based in Ghana, they strive to shift the fashion industry from the fast fashion cycle toward a more sustainable business model ♻️. They champion and support local artisans who create upcycled clothing and accessories, made from the estimated 15 million secondhand garments that arrive in Kantamanto Market in Ghana every week from the global north.

Complementing the Human Natures exhibition , this collection of vibrant tote bags has a nod to the Kantamanto Market on the outside, and the inside of each bag is just as interesting, as you will find the collars, pockets and other features of the discarded shirts that they are made from 🙌.

This collection, that is truly unique and the antithesis to throwaway fashion, is available in our Museum shop and online.

We’re delighted to be stocking some brand new additions to our collection of Ellwood Parker prints and greeting cards. We’re welcoming Tootsie the hedgehog 🦔, Panini the pine martin, Sassy the seal , Fluffy the woodpecker and Bruce the mouse 🐭 to Manchester Museum Shop this Spring.

Louise Ellwood Parker is a wildlife artist with a lifelong love of nature 🌱. Her paintings begin with careful observation, not just of the subject’s form but also their characteristics, and as she paints the subject develops its own distinct personality, often taking on a life of its own.

Louise is lucky enough to live in a wildlife rich part of the northwest and is able to observe many of the subjects she paints from her studio. From hedgehogs living in the garden next to her studio, woodpeckers and tawny owls 🦉 in the nearby trees, and the ever popular poopy pigeon 🐦 making a daily appearance to clear the bird table. Inspiration is never far away and each character begins as a sketch before coming alive in paint 🎨 🖌️.

You can shop this beautiful collection in our Museum shop and online.

We recently collaborated again with the brilliant on a brand new t-shirt design as part of our whale-inspired collection 🐳. Here is owner Daniel on his creative process and why he loves working on these tees 👕.

‘Working on this design was an interesting challenge as drawing something that’s underwater could end up as just a whale against a blue background, so I had to really think of ways to keep the piece interesting whilst having the illusion that the whale is in fact in the sea. To achieve this I added in some white line textures to mimic water currents and added in some floating jellyfish for some colour variety and interest. I always love working on these T-shirts as they are usually subject matters I don’t get to tackle too often’

This 100% cotton tee is printed by in Yorkshire and would make a perfect gift for the whale lover in your life. Available online and in our Museum shop 🛍️.
