If man truly came face to face with God, it would be a terrifying encounter.

The absolute perfection, goodness, and purity of God would shine mercilessly upon everything within us that stands against it. Every hidden motive, selfish desire, deception, corruption, and unlawful action would be dragged into the light.

Before absolute goodness, there would be nowhere for darkness to hide and no lie we could tell ourselves about what we have become.

Why does every human say “who am I?”

One who remains in darkness and ignorance while allowing the ego to whisper, “I am intelligent. I am enlightened. I have nothing more to learn,” is a fool.

The wise understand that the more knowledge they acquire, the more they become aware of the vastness of what they do not know. True wisdom produces humility, not intellectual arrogance.

Never stop reading. Never stop researching. Never stop questioning.

Knowledge is power.

Jesus teaches that certain “demons” are cast out through prayer and fasting.

Esoterically, these demons can be understood as the lower urges and desires that attempt to control our actions: the craving for food, lust, s*x, pleasure, and instant gratification.

Fasting is the practice of refusing to automatically obey these impulses. You feel the desire, but awareness remains above it. Through discipline, you strengthen the will and regain authority over the mind and body.

Prayer completes the process by redirecting awareness. Instead of feeding the urge with attention, you withdraw your attention from the lower nature and direct it toward something higher.

Fasting trains you not to obey every desire. Prayer trains you where to place your attention.

This is how the inner “demons” lose their power over you.
