As requested, here’s the clean tone test!

Welcome to Part 4 of testing out the new High Pass Filter Module by - this time with a clean tone.

You can definitely hear the module taking effect here, both 3K and 5K modules have a similar effect, but with the 5K being a high resistance the 3K definitely suits the single coils better.

So if you want more out of your guitar, go get yourself one and use code “MATTHEWJENKINS” for 10% off!

Super low action? No problem.

Today I’m setting up this naughty looking Epiphone Explorer for my good friend from

Bought second hand, it shows signs of good care but hadn’t had much love for a while. The main issue was the crazy high action, which was to do with the truss rod being too loose. This causes what we call a forward bow, where the strings pull the neck too far forward.

To fix it, the truss rod needs to be tightened to the correct tension, then you can adjust the action really low with minimal fret buzz. Easy enough to sort but can go wrong if you’re not careful and don’t check your measurements frequently.

But once that was sorted, this Explorer was playing low and fast. Ready to rip the stage once again!

Let’s make a backplate!

Now before you ask “why don’t you just buy a replacement?” - my client had a gig the very next day and the new backplate wasn’t going to arrive in time.

So to stop them ripping out the ground or getting their shirt stuck in the trem, I decided to make a temporary backplate - no the tidiest but it’ll definitely do the job!

Have you had your frets dressed recently?

No? Hmu.

If your frets are feeling a bit flat or have some troublesome grooves where you play your favourite chords - you need a fret dress!! Basically, make your existing frets feel like new, without having to swap out the frets.

But if you’ve been bashing out the same bend in the minor pentatonic shape for 10 years (you know exactly what I mean) then you’re probably going to need some new frets 🫡
