I put my other hat on a few weeks ago and stitched these converse shoes for a gorgeous lady’s 40th birthday 🎉
She is a big fan of Japanese anime with this little character, Totoro, being her favourite.

I want to share these two photos with you…

Back at in April, a lovely couple bought a mini ‘Airy Angus kit from me. What is amazing however, was that the gentleman who wanted to stitch it had just had quite a debilitating stroke. He had always enjoyed crafts and this was one he really fancied having a go at.

I think what he has achieved is just wonderful, and proof that if you challenge yourself, things can be worked out. I am so proud of this on his
behalf 🫶🏻

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet recently. I’ve been working on this memory bear for a very special lady who lost her baby many moons ago now but kept the clothes very close.
I was so worried about this project knowing what every stitch of clothing would mean to her. I didn’t want her baby’s memory to be spoiled in any way; I wanted to enhance it for her in the only way that I know how to.
I started by making a base bear from wool mix felt so that I had a stable background for the stretchy fabrics.
I used the little romper suit for the bottom of the bear and the arms. I cut the cuffs off the legs and used them to edge the arms. A vest was used for the upper body trimmed with the poppers from the romper. The collar was then stitched on which luckily fitted perfectly!
The beautifully hand knitted matinee jacket was my main worry. I didn’t want to cause any stitch runs! So I carefully unpicked the sleeves and used them for the legs. Honestly, I felt like one of The Repair Shop Bear ladies as I as so careful!

The owner is delighted I’m pleased to say…and so am I now that it is finished.
