Graphic Designer by day, I turned my skills more to the handmade creations for my hobby and my online business, Buttons and Bootees. I make personalised handmade frames, cards and gifts for all occasions. The items are handmade completely from design to finishing by myself, and finished to a professional, high standard. I am also asked to create customised variations to the designs, which I can also create.

She’s finally finished ✔️ 🎃 🧡

There was a time I could make so many pumpkins in one sitting… but recently I’ve lost my ‘crojo’ and I haven’t picked up a hook in over 3 months 😮

So as it’s cosy season, I ordered some braided cord and got to work. A slow, easy, no pressure make ‘just for me’. And here she is 😍

Popping out now to get a candle to display by the side. And then maybe I’ll ease into some coasters too… or not. No pressure. Just enjoying the craft and the steady pace for once.

We spent the weekend by the sea for my birthday! 🎁 🎂 🎈 staying at a fab campsite in the campervan, we went to Llandudno for the day and there was a funfair on! Which was an unexpected surprise! After the kids were done with the rides, and we’d been on the beach and the pier, I could finally go and visit The Wool Shop!! Which is well known for the vast amount of wool, and crafts in Llandudno! I wasn’t planning on making a purchase but it was my birthday…
We got chatting to the owner, Jonny and he gave the kids all a voucher for a free ice cream at their new shop the Ice Cream Parlour! He even gave me a voucher for my birthday, as the kids told him I was 23, and apparently this was hilarious 🤣
What a weekend! Gorgeous weather, beautiful beaches (I love a UK seaside!) and of course it was May 4th… May the yarn be with you!! 😆

A new workshop and new skills unlocked this weekend! I went to a bag making workshop with Maxine at Capability crafts in Glossop! In the workshop we learnt the stitches and techniques and made a start on the handle and then the sections of the bag. Then I finished it off at home yesterday afternoon- I couldn’t put it down!! So addictive! I love my finished bag but the process was so fun! 💼 🩷 🪡 such a lovely workshop!

Today I’ve taken it for its first outing!

Thank you Maxine, can’t wait for the next workshop!

Kevin the carrot 🥕 is finished!!

Another project completed from the challenge I set myself for the year- which was to finish some of the crochet kits I have been collecting over the years.

This kit was from Aldi at least a year ago and I started it with gusto before leaving it sat collecting dust ever since. Scroll to see where we started and the progress story until the finished piece! ➡️➡️➡️

The kit contents were all the yarn, hook, stuffing and printed pattern. The difficulty was stated as 2 stars (out of 5). All from Aldi, I’m not sure on the price. I bought it for the packaging mainly, designed to look like a compost bag in recycled paper and I remember filming an ‘unboxing’ video in my car before work one morning 😂

Fast forward to actually making the piece. The pattern was simple yet extremely monotonous to make the carrot body. The rest of the pieces were super simple and then when it all came together he has tonnes of character and overall quite a cute piece! 😍

I enjoyed actually forcing myself to pick up and continue with this project and I’m pleased with the end result, curly arms and all 😆

Onto the next project now! Let me know which one I should make (or finish) next! ⬇️

For Christmas I received this fab crochet stitches card pack from ! It’s a pack of different crochet stitches cards, with over 50 different stitches to try.

So I had an idea 🤔…

If I made a swatch of each different stitch sample each week then by the end of the year I will have the squares to make up a blanket! This is a year long commitment!!

And to make it even more fun, I have added each stitch to a little surprise ball and selected a range of dk yarn from my stash, putting samples in little vending machine capsule balls too. So each week I can pick out a surprise stitch and colour of yarn!

The first I have chosen at random is the Arcade stitch! A new stitch for me, and if you’ll see from the picture I actually made it wrong 🙈! Before frogging and restarting for the sample square!

I’m already ready for week 2, I wonder what stitch it will be next!! 😬

Introducing… CroTay! 💃🏼🪩🎶🎵🎤

This is the first kit I have finished in 2025! If you’ve missed my last posts, I’m aiming to complete all of the crochet kits I have collected over the years. This is the year!!

And this is the first one… completed ☑️

The kit can be found online, I got mine from tk maxx in store just before Christmas and at a lower price too! It comes with everything you need (see my video) including a hook, needle, eyes, yarn and stuffing. Plus a full colour detailed instruction booklet!

I’m not one to follow the patterns directly, I usually do my own thing, add my own spin or create the pattern in an alternative order. But this time I stuck to it! And I’m going to do that with the kits going forward.

A really enjoyable project and I’m pleased with the end result! Yarn quality wasn’t amazing for the skin tones but the rest was soft and it all worked really well. Hook was decent too and the needle. I have no complaints! I think everyone should get one of these kits!!

Have you made one of these? There’s a few variations- Harry Styles, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe etc. I would love to get another one!!

But first things first, onto the next kit!! But which should I make next?! 🤔

Happy new year! 🥳

Incase you missed my super long reel yesterday I posted on Instagram, I have shared my New Year’s resolution!

For 2025, I have decided to actually finish some projects!! Mainly the crochet kits I have been collecting.

I think there are two hobbies with crochet, or in general… one of buying the things (and all of the things!) and the other of actually crocheting! 🧶

And as we know all crafters are hoarders!! So I have been collecting all these crochet kits and mostly not getting round to actually making them!

Some are just too special and saving them ‘for best’… although what does that even mean?? So this is the year I WILL make them!

I’ve got them out and I have x11. So not quite enough to make one per month - although I have the motivation now so I don’t want to be waiting around until Feb to start the next one (I’ve just completed the Taylor Swift). So we’ll see how time pans out but my aim is straightforward… let’s do this!!

I tried to list where they’re all from but the caption got too long so I couldn’t! Anyway if you scroll across then you can see the ones I have already started so these have an advantage 😂

I’ve also already made the Taylor Swift doll, which I’ll follow up with my next post about!

But the question is, which one to make next!! 🤔

I also shouldn’t buy any more kits… but if you see any you think I’d like let me know and I’ll add them into the list! 😂😂😂 (just don’t tell my husband 🤫)

2024 makes!! The first collage is all my best makes of 2024, from wearables, the Taylor Swift dress! To the frog takeover, gifts and charity makes!

Then the next collage is a collection of craft workshops or classes! I started the last year with an aim to do something crafty every month! And with that I have tried new crafts, or learnt new skills and generally expanded my love of all things crafty!!

I took a job in the creative industry which at the start really fuelled my love of crafts and crochet. But that soon took a dip when it didn’t quite work out and I lost the love of it all.

So here’s to 2025, a new year to embrace crafts again, find my ‘crojo’ and maybe even start back the craft club which I have missed so much! Meeting once a month crafting together, until the craft barn was sold! Hopefully we can find a new venue to host us and reignite our club in the new year!

What were your best makes for 2024? And what do you have planned for the new year?

I think I need another year long project like the temperature blanket from 2023… 🤔 looking for something that I can dip in and out of!
