Brilliant work !
The Mayor, Cllr Jason Aldrich, and the Town Clerk met with Beckie Bennett, Head of Streetscene at North Yorkshire Council. During the very productive meeting, we asked for Malton to considered to be the pilot town for a regular enhanced cleanup project. Maintaining the strong, positive partnership between the Town Council and North Yorkshire Council is key to delivering a greater Malton for everyone.
A fabulous effort by Streetscene, 12 hours after our meeting, they were on the ground. This is a team effort to refresh the entire town, and the work of North Yorkshire Council Streetscene Officers compliments the excellent work already carried out by the Malton Town Council Town Ranger, Steve King. A massive thanks to Frank and Tristan (photographed) who braved the heat to collect over 40 bags of waste yesterday. The deep clean of Newbiggin is complete and the road sweeper should be visiting today. If you see the Streetscene crew out and about, give them a wave! They said hearing drivers toot their horns and shout "thank you" made all the hard work worth it.
We are working hard behind the scenes to deliver the improvements we all want to see. Please be aware we know that lots of areas need attention. This will include us working with landlords, Fitzwilliam Estate and local businesses to support the work. We will try to get as many as possible behind the clean up.
