The Fossilist will be open this coming week Tuesday-Friday.

It has been a fantastic winter so far for fossil collecting on the Jurassic Coast. The weather has really churned the beaches up.

If you are venturing out, do stay safe and check the tide times.

Triassic aquatic reptiles (Keichousaurus).

These are from an old collection and had remained unprepared until now, where, unlike others, they have been revealed using modern preparation techniques. This has resulted in every bone being revealed in 3D, even down to stomach contents.

A stunning crab fossil. Very unusual orientation, preserved on its back with claws open. Found whilst quarrying travertine for floor/bathroom tiles in Denizli, Turkey.

Recent rough weather has revealed some fossil-bearing stones from the cliffs.

These ammonites are 200 million years old from the Jurassic period. They will now be taken to the workshop for preparation.

Just arrived - a partial Ichthyosaur skull with a full sclerotic ring. These are the bony plates that surrounded the eye - likely to protect them from pressure when swimming at greater depths.

Found under Black Ven, Lyme Regis.
