CAN YOU HELP
PLEASE?
I have been a little bit disappointed at the number of customers who have come to see me at our new shop.
There may be many reasons for this: the shop is only open for limited hours,...at least to start with, there are people who don't like change etc, etc, etc. But we know that 93% of Luton Christian Bookcentre's custines1 wanted me to restart
There were so many disappointed customers when the shop closed.
Because of this, I am going to make Wed 17th October, 'Bring a friend week' and I would like everyone to come down to the shop in St. Mary's at some time between 10.30m and 1.30pm. There is always free tea and coffee and speciality coffees are available for a very small charge.
I am hoping to have some Christmas cards by then.
I was kindly given some second-hand books to provide me with a small amount of stock but was given no money although a nice sum of money was given to 3 or 4 different local charities and Book Aid.
I want to offer more stock, especially Bibles, but the latter are expensive.
One of the positive things that I can offee is a phoneline 24/7 on which you can place an order. Please don't, however, leave me a voicemail as I don't listen to them; a text will make a better communication and then I will ring you back.
I have been really encouraged by the Bibles that people have ordered this week. Four customers have ordered 5 Bibles between them and a church has ordered a significant nunber of Bibles to give away. (There is a new give-away Bible to be published on 25/10/25 which seems good for that purpose.

So here are some ways that you can help:
1. Come to visit me and you can chat with me, if you would like to, to understand how the shop is goingvto work.
2. Offer to become a volunteer and help ne on a Wednesday.
3. Is there anyone with art skills who could design posters for me or leaflets for me?
4. Donate any second-hand books that I could resell or donate to Book Aid.
5. I would like a website on which we could provide' Click & Collect' sales.
6. I would like someone to work with me to set up the POS and enter stock on it.
7. Does anyone know how to set up a Crowdfunding page? I feel that this maybe an excellent way of getting some money behind us

Apologies.
I have had an unexpected health issue that I had to deal with but, as of Wed 1st October, normal service will be resumed. I apologise to anyone who came over the last 2 weeks and was inconvenienced. I will be at St Mary's at 10.30 on Wed 1st October.

WED 3RD SEPTEMBER.
We are moving towards Autumn and some people really dread this time of year with shorter days etc.
However, if you come to see us at St. Mary's Church, we can promise you a warm welcome, tea and coffee (we even have speciality coffees available). Today I will have the TakecNote books with me, with discounts of up to £8. This is an invitation to come along and browse through the books and enjoy the company, have a chat, if you'd like to, with a drink of your choice.
We are open today from 10.30 to 13.30.

CAN YOU HELP ME, PLEASE?

Please, if you are having a clear-out this Bank Holiday weekend and have some pre-loved books to find a new home for, could you please donate them to me for recycling in my stock. I will be at St. Mary's from 10.30 to 13.30 every Wed. Thank you everyone for your support.

TAKE NOTE
I am going to regularly have Take Note and Kids Corner as part of our stock. Please pop into St Mary's today to see the range of books: Bibles, autobiographies, biographies, devotionals, journals and more. I really think it is the best consignment of Take Note we have been sent yet.

Calligraphy Encore!

We're delighted to announce our second Illuminated Gospel — this time our calligrapher Jane Sullivan has handwritten and illustrated The Gospel According to St Matthew.

A FEW GIFTS THIS WEEK.
I would be really pleased to see you tomorrow between 10.30 and 13.15.
I have included a few gifts to the stock this week, that I hope you will enjoy. I also have some tracts available.
I am in need of volunteers to help me. If you think this is your calling, please come to see me at St. Mary's when we are open. I would be pleased to see you. I need help on a Wed morning but also with technology eg we need a website. I want to use this for Click and Collect' but need someone to oversea that. If you can't do it, think about individuals in your church; could I put their skills to good use.
Please ask your churches if they could buy their communion requirements through me. This will be great when we have 'click and collect' set up.
I can take specific orders for items that are not available in our stock. Please ask.
We are going to have a suggestion box, next week, that customers can contribute to, anonymously or not.

I have been at St. Mary's for 3 weeks now and have been made to feel very welcome The shop has changed it's name to 'Christian Books (Luton), (formerly Luton Christian Bookcentre).
I am currently selling new and pre-loved books and will use this, together with any donations to stock Bibles and Ben and Hannah Dunnett gifts.. Praise God that it is all coming together.
