A Record Shop with a difference.

Today i visited my favourite record shop in Japan, RED HOUSE(レッドハウス). A shop i first visited six years ago (with a different owner).

They always have fantastic records... and this is just a few I picked up today.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is the big engagement party. I had thought it today. All the days are mushing into one. Perfect.

Today i picked up a hire car and went on a solo dare whilst Yuri spent time with some family.

I had, quite simply, the finest cup of coffee in the finest coffee shop in Sekijuku; an Edo period town, which is a nationally protected heritage area in Japan.

I then stumbled and fell into a record shop and bought some lovely records...
..before visiting Iga Ueno Castle, within Ueno park, is beautiful. The small museum inside full of treasures and incredible views.

And yuri has called to say she has made some fried chicken with her mum and its ready for me to come eat.

Possibly the best day for buying so far!

I was back in Nagoya and only visited two shops, Greatest Hits and Banana Records and i managed to get these... as well as a few more.

Tomorrow I hire a car and going on a solo date to visit some historical sights whilst Yuri spends time with family. And then the follow day it is our big engagement party here in Japan. Expect photos. Lots of photos.

When in Japan, it's essentially to see New Japan Professional Wrestling. Some of the best in the world jump and around and slap each other in incredibly convincing ways.

A glorious time with Yuri, her sister snd two of her children.

Back to buying recoeds tomorrow!

I'm in Kameyama, the hometown of my wife (to be), Yuri.

We arrived last night. The streets are always full of beautiful light and shadows. Today i jumped on a train to Tsu to buy some records, including this City Pop classic by Anri.

I also picked up a few other items I couldn't quite leave behind.

I then joined a local gym for a week, as I've missed the one back home like a sicko and now thinking about where we shall go for dinner.

No chocolate bird shaped donuts where hurt in the process of this post 😋

Our last couple of days in Saporro has been full of incredible food and equally incredible vinyl finds.

Let's not forget about the free Professional Wrestling event in the grounds of a temple, and giant inflatable flying bear of some kind... oh... and more intimidating coffee.

Tomorrow we fly back south of Nagoya and get a train to Kameyama. We'll be spending time with my (soon to be) inlaws and no doubt more vinyl finds and other adventures.

The trip had been phenomenal so far. Very happy.

I've a package heading back to Brighter Day HQ, full of some absolutely fantastic records. These will arrive back in about 10 weeks. Don't let me down Japan Post... you've never done before!

Lock up your obies... I'm back on the prowl!

We arrived in Sapporo around lunch time and I started to dart around picking up some fantastic records. Including a red wax Peppers, some essential Floyd and some jazz essentials.

I've got a mighty pile here in the north, whcih I'm going to box up and send back to Brighter Day HQ tomorrow morning.

An incredible couple of days stay at Amenohi To Yuyake hotel by the shores of Lake Shikotsu in Hakaido. I even experienced my first hot spring. Bathing in volcanic water is quite the experience.

Beautiful walks and beautiful food with beautiful company.

Back to Sapporo today where I'm going to dive into some record shops (and convenience stores!). Hiring a car is a game changer when in Japan.
