We’ve had a lovely visit from Iqbal Hussain this morning who kindly signed a couple of copies of his book - The Night I Borrowed Time 🌃 these are available for purchase in our local author section.

✨The beautiful world of Persephone Books✨

We’re delighted to welcome a beautiful selection of Persephone Classics to our shelves 📚

For anyone new to Persephone books, they lovingly publish beautifully produced editions of mostly neglected classics by women writers - books that deserve to be read, remembered and rediscovered. Their list spans the early 20th century and includes novels, short stories, diaries and memoirs, with writing that is often witty, insightful, moving and wonderfully relevant today.

Each book is a little treasure, from the thoughtfully chosen covers to the beautiful patterned endpapers inside.📝🤍

‘2026 marks the 90th anniversary of the first flight of the world famous Spitfire fighter. Join us on Saturday 4th July to hear local author James Wright give a presentation about his book On Silver Wings, the fascinating true story of a decorated Spitfire ace who was tragically killed on a routine test flight just six months before the end of the war in Europe and who ended up with two graves.’ ✈️📚

James Wright will be signing copies available to purchase in the shop, don’t miss out on yours!
