Over the last three weeks our campaign to publish a book about the Design Reviewed archive has gained immense support from all of you. Over 800 people have pledged to bring this book to life, and we’ve already began working with on the production.

This is the last weekend before the campaign ends on Wednesday, 29 April.

Please share the link with those who haven’t seen the book already as they can still grab a copy of the 100 limited collector’s editions left before the campaign ends.

Thank you to all the generous backers who have pledged for Design Reviewed.

Type Archived: A visual journey through typographic history is the definitive account of London’s legendary Type Archive.

Published by Volume and authored by long-serving Archive volunteer, Richard Ardagh, the book provides a visual tour of traditional typefounding, tracing the origins of typography and the printed word.

Type Archived is now available to purchase direct from .co – and to celebrate its publication, Unit’s Adrian Shaughnessy put some questions to Richard about the Archive, making metal type and the process of compiling his fascinating book. You can read his interview now on the Unit website (link in bio).

Type Archived is available now via vol.co/products/type-archived

Via 🤩 For years I’ve been collecting and documenting graphic design artefacts from across the world.

That archive, with now over 10,000 items, has been distilled into a new book featuring hundreds of examples of graphic design history, many of which have rarely been reproduced or discussed elsewhere.

The × book will launch via crowdfunding on .co soon.

More soon.

Thanks to for sharing this great shot of his Woman at Work road sign – one of 100 we had made as part of our rewards packages for our Margaret Calvert book, crowdfunded on .co.

The signs are life-size, produced as Aluminium Composite Panels (ACM) and rendered in R2 reflective vinyl, as used on permanent signs on major roads. They are also gloss laminated (A142).

The Woman at Work sign is a variation on the classic road works design (the so-called ‘men at work’ sign) Calvert created as part of the UK traffic signs programme of the mid-1960s.

Thanks to everyone who pledged and helped to make Woman at Work happen.
