We’re back! Pack the pencil cases and line those stomaches, because our monthly Drink and Draw with Broken Frontier () is in session! As always we’ll be joined by our resident cartoonist Mark Stafford () and this month we’ve invited two Fantagraphics () artists Katriona Chapman () and Candice Purwin ()! Join us on Friday 29th May 2026, from 6.30pm.

We celebrate our 40th birthday this year and Fantagraphics, who produce some of our favourite comics, will also be celebrating with its 50th anninversary, so we’re using this excuse to have a little party at our Drink & Draw this month. Candice Purwin has recently released The Book of Murmurs (which we’re also hosting a special signing tomorrow!) and Katriona Chapman released The Pass earlier this year (which we also hosted an event for).

So, what is a Drink and Draw? Well, it’s in the name! We’ll host an evening of drawing with our guest comic artists, all while having a few drinks together, alcholic and non alcholic. Mark Stafford, our resident cartoonist, will be a regular face at the monthly event, being joined by two guest artists every time. We’ll meet at Gosh! for 6.30pm, where they’ll be a chance to mingle with the artists and check out their comics, before we head over to The Royal George for 7pm. Once everyone has grabbed a seat and a drink, we’ll start three short rounds of drawing, with each guest artist setting their own drawing theme. Gosh! will have the artists work on sale and even have some prizes for their favourite drawings! We will aim to wrap up by 9.30pm, but staying afterwards to continue the fun is more than welcome.

Broken Frontier and ourselves have been running the Drink & Draws since 2015 and we’ve been lucky enough to have had over 200 guest artists attend! It will be hosted by Broken Frontier’s wonderful Andy Oliver and Gosh’s Will Humberstone.

Look forward to seeing you all on Friday 29th May, from 6.30pm. There will be limited seating available at the Royal George and seating will be prioritised to those who were at the shop first.

Buuza!! - the acclaimed webcomic from Shazleen Khan (.jpeg) is getting an official publication from Abrams () and it couldn’t be more deserved! We’ve been fans of Buuza!! and its artist Shazleen for a long time here at Gosh! and can’t wait to get our hands on this gorgeous new edition. We’re happy to announce a launch party for the first volume here at the shop on Thursday 25th June 2026, from 7-9pm. Here’s what the publisher say about it:

Cartoonist Shazleen Khan brings their Ignatz Award–winning young adult web series, BUUZA!! to print in Good Morning, Salwa, the first of three volumes collecting the original webtoon.

On New Year’s Eve 1997, in the bustling city of Salwa, Zach, a down-on-his-luck phone operator, receives a misdialed call from a distressed man named Zhen which sparks an undeniable connection. Zach is thrown into a search for his mystery man that stretches across multiple cities and a tangled web of exes, missed connections, and frenemies.

Set in the vibrant, low-fantasy realm of Dawlat Al-Harir—an eclectic melting pot inspired by Silk Road history and rich Asian and African Islamic cultures—BUUZA!! is a q***r YA romance that features a uniquely dynamic blend of magical realism and political drama, with a richly diverse cast and an intricate plot that explores themes of identity, family, and transformation. This story will take readers on a captivating journey through a world where the divine and mundane collide in the most unexpected ways.

Meet Shazleen and get a signed copy of Buuza!! on Thursday 25th June, from 7pm. Shazleen has drawn us some sketchcards to accompany the book too which you can pre-order by clicking the link in our bio.

We can’t wait to get our hands on this fantasy adventure comic, The Book of Murmurs, whose magical dazzling colours have enchanted us the moment we laid eyes on the cover! We’re thrilled to welcome artist Candice Purwin () to the shop for a signing to celebrate the release on Saturday 30th May 2026, from 1-2pm. Candice has even drawn us some exclusive sketchcards to accompany all sales of the book, which are honestly out of this world! They’ll be in very limited supply so grab them while you can. Here’s what the publisher Fantagraphics () say about the book:

In this fantasy adventure, a young girl must brave a magical world of strange creatures and shivering landscapes to find her slain parents and defeat a monster who feeds off fear.

When tragedy strikes her household and her book of spells is stolen, Little Moon is spirited away to the strange, shimmering world of The Fault. In this land rich in lore and crackling with magic, she must find allies, discover her true name, and channel the stories of her matrilineal line to battle the fearsome Shenk.

A fantastical tale crafted as supple and strong as spider silk, Candice Purwin’s graphic novel weaves together powerful themes of grief, friendship and identity. The Book of Murmurs takes you on a journey through what it is to be lost, and what it means to be found.

Come along and meet Candice at the shop on Saturday 30th May, from 1pm. You can pre-order a sketch card edition of the book from our website by clicking the link in our bio.
