Right now being in the diaspora, with family caught up in the conflict in the Middle East, I don’t feel much like posting but for a few hours this week I experienced “Restoration” Nature, Friendship and Art are my three holy grails for a reset. I forest bathed in Hyde Park with and a had little bit of art exposure this one painting ♥️: Research indicates that exposure to nature & art reduces cortisol (the stress hormone), lowers heart rate, and helps the brain recover from mental fatigue, a process often described as “restorative”.

I wore the Charlie Jacket perfect spring denim jacket frayed edges distressed and stylish . Sust Style has a few of these denim jackets left if you’re in the market for one!

Watching Cherine Dabais’s All That’s Left of You — her delicate portrait of Palestinian memory, family, and loss — resonated deeply with my own Iraqi diaspora experience. The film’s fragments reminded me of the quiet work so many of us do: preserving what’s left of our stories, identities, and inherited tenderness.

It also connects to the spirit behind Sust Style Boutique — the idea of honouring culture through craft, keeping heritage alive through the details we choose to wear and carry. Like the film, it reflects a commitment to memory, resilience, and the beauty that survives displacement.

In both the film and the diaspora, what remains is not just loss —
but the intention to protect our stories, our families, and our style of belonging.

Delighted last night to attend a Healing for Gaza event last night, hearing deeply moving testimony from Dr. Nick Maynard, Dr. Alexandra Chen, and child psychologist Simon Carpenter. Their stories of lives lost, families shattered, starvation, and the daily struggle for survival in Gaza were heartbreaking — and the statistics were almost unbearable.

As a psychotherapist in my other life, I felt humbled by their courage and their commitment to protecting the dignity and resilience of children and families living through unimaginable trauma.

We listened, we cried, we ate, we hugged — and we even danced.
This is community. This is humanity.
A truly inspiring group.
