Balham Country Market

Balham Country Market meets on the first Saturday of every month at the Balham Bowls Club SW12 8QX. Balham Country Market started in 2011.

All the producers are local selling delicious home baked goods. Everything is produced by members of the Market and include home baked savoury dishes, cakes, bread, preserves, pickles and a range of savoury dishes to take away. ious treats! The Balham Bowls Club venue is perfect for a catch up with friends! The Market is held on the first Saturday of every month from 1pm - 4pm at Balham Bowls Club and the cosy atmosphere makes it a great place to come for tea and home made cakes. It's part of a social co-operative movement called Country Markets which was established at the end of the First World War. Dear Customers,

After ten years of running Balham County Market we have decided to hang up our aprons and put away the craft scissors. We have been unable to find sufficient producers and a covid-safe venue that would secure the sustainable future of Balham Country Market.

We have loved meeting you all and thank you for your support over the years.

For those of you who have been missing Jane’s cheese bites, shortbread or lemon posset the recipes will remain on the website for a few more months.

BALHAM COUNTRY MARKET IS 10 YEARS OLD!

On Saturday 4th September we're celebrating the 10th anniversary of Balham Country Market. We hope you'll be able to come along and enjoy the range of hand crafted, home grown and home baked goods on offer.

The Market will be held in Bedford Hill Place, the area next to Sainsbury's car park, from 10am to 3pm.

The weather looks fine but in the unlikely event of heavy rain we'll do the same as last month and take phone orders for perishable items - details will be posted here on Saturday.

This will be the last Market for 2021. Keep an eye on the website for future plans.

Sad news everyone!

Unfortunately we have to cancel today's market - our pitch in under a few inches of water and more rain is forecast! Hope to see you again in September.

The first Saturday of the month is approaching so Balham Country Market is back in Bedford Hill Place this weekend. We'll be open on 7th August from 10am to 3pm in the community space behind Sainsbury's.

Home baked, home grown and handcrafted goods made by local Producers will be on sale at our friendly monthly market.

Who’s ready for another stock up of their favourite treats?!

BCM will be held in Bedford Hill Place again this month by Sainsbury’s. We'll be there from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 3rd July.

Hopefully it will be as successful as last month's Market when many items sold out early. It was lovely to see so many regular customers and meet newcomers too so we look forward to seeing you again on Saturday!

Mark this in your diaries as we are back!

As the first Saturday of the month approaches we are looking forward to opening the Market again on Saturday 5th June.

We're restocking baking ingredients, caring for plants and assembling hand made crafts in preparation for the first Market since September 2020!

The outdoor Market last September was very popular so we'll be in the same
area - Bedford Hill Place, the community space behind Sainsbury's from 10am - 3pm.

There'll be a collection of handmade crafts and cards, fresh garden produce and plants, preserves and home made cakes.

We're looking forward to seeing all our regular customers again and welcoming newcomers who haven't yet discovered the joy of Balham Country Market!

We’re back!

Stand by for some good news, we hope: Balham Country Market is reopening on Saturday 5th June, 10am - 3pm!

We'll be in the open air in Bedford Hill Place, the community space behind Sainsbury's.

We'll then regroup on the first Saturday of the month during the summer at the same times, as follows:

3rd July
7th August
4th September
Please put these dates in your diaries now so you won't forget.

Orders can be placed in advance - details will be on the website nearer the time.

Card payments preferred.

Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Free car parking available for 2hrs on Sainsbury's car park.

It's been far too long a break and we're all looking forward to being back and meeting you all again.

Until then, don't forget to try some of our recipes on our website.

We know we’ve been a little quiet but we hope to see you all very soon but for now here is a little update ☺️

We are so proud as a market to be able to help out where we can and this is just one of the highlights of our year.

2020 has been a struggle for everyone so being able to do what we could and receive a lovely letter of appreciation is incredibly heartwarming!

Thank you to everyone who has been able to help with donations and we hope we will be able to do some more fundraising soon!

We regret to announce that the upcoming market on Saturday 3rd October in Bedford Hill Place has been cancelled. In light of government guidance and the changing circumstances with Covid, the Market will be suspended for the rest of this year. We will keep you posted. Keep safe!
