Oh my!!!!
Amazing news from Merton Best Business Awards this afternoon. Only Make Believe has been shortlisted for 'Best New Business' and 'Best Micro Business' in the 2026 Merton Best Business awards. Imposter syndrome runs high and I so nearly didn't submit an application.
Huge thanks to Merton Best Business Awards for this vote of confidence and stay tuned to find out how you can also cast a vote for us in the peoples' choice award. I'm just going to go and have a lie down.

Last night was the most amazing evening we’ve had at Only Make Believe! Friends and family and members of bookclub (which feels like the same thing) turned out to meet and learn more about the writing of Da. Arathi was as warm and funny as her book (although decidedly less tragic) and spent so much time talking to us as a group and us as individuals who feel that we have our own relationship with Da.
Thank you Arathi for being so utterly brilliant and doing such a long trek to our little shop. 🤩 we hope that you return one day soon x

I was delighted to be invited to attend a joyful event Tooting Library 📚. Farrah Riaz created such a fun buzz around her brilliant new picture book The Twirly Wiggly Dance. (I even learned to do the dance)

Tonight we welcome Arathi Menon to Merton Abbey Mills for our very first author event of the summer. If you don’t have a ticket we have a very few seats left on the door. Doors open from 6.45 there is a chilled drink available on arrival. Don’t forget to bring your book for signing! Fly on the Wall Press

We have a few tickets remaining to meet the amazing Arathi Menon on Monday night 7pm in the shop.
Her amazing novel Da has been the highest rated book in Only Make Believe book club history and is a true emotional roller coaster.
If you would like to buy a ticket on the night, to avoid online booking fees, please let me know so that I can put one aside for you.
