🇳🇬 My First Nigerian Food Experience… WOW! 🤯🔥
Dinner with my lovely colleague Fatimah before she starts her exciting new chapter outside London. 🥹❤️ I wanted to treat her to a memorable farewell meal.
Finding the right restaurant wasn’t easy! 😭 Fatimah only eats halal food and loves Nigerian cuisine, so we needed somewhere that ticked every box ✔️ Thankfully, Enish was the perfect choice.
It was my very first time trying Nigerian food, so I was really excited! 😆🇳🇬
Before the food even arrived, Fatimah recommended I try a lightly sparkling alcoholic drink. 🍹 At first, I wasn’t entirely sure about it; it reminded me of a fermented sparkling drink and wasn’t sweet at all, which is very different from what I’m used to. 🤔 But as the meal went on, I actually started to enjoy it more, and by the end I understood why it paired so well with the food.
Fatimah then recommended I start with a spicy fish soup, and knowing how much I love spicy food, there was absolutely no way I was saying no. 🌶️😂
It turned out to be a huge steamed fish in a rich, spicy soup rather than the kind of soup I was expecting… and oh my, I absolutely loved it!! 💕 If I had to describe the flavour, I’d say it reminded me a little of Thai food, but with fewer herbs. I literally picked the fish clean down to the bones. 😆👍
Our main dishes looked incredibly colourful. 😳 After the starter, I was expecting another massive flavour bomb, but they were actually much gentler and more delicate in flavour. The braised meat was beautifully tender, and the soft, gooey yam was such a comforting combination. ❤️
The staff were so friendly and helpful throughout the evening, which made the experience even better. 😊
It was a little on the pricey side, but the food was absolutely delicious and I’m so glad I finally got to experience Nigerian cuisine. Thank you, Fatimah, for introducing me to such an amazing dinner, and I wish you all the very best in your next adventure. ❤️✨
