Here's the boss, Khaleesi, looking rather serious in front of the stall. Don't be fooled by her small size, shes keeping a watchful eye and might bite your ankles if you try anything (or complain about the prices 🤣😉).

And it's a wrap!!

Almost 5 whole years in this little unit, my little shop of dreams. A place I hoped would feel like home to everyone who entered, a hope I think was achieved.

It was a whirlwind. I knew absolutely no one when I moved to Walthamstow to open this shop- I had only been in the area once before in my entire life, before I took the keys! 3 months in Covid came. Then all the other insanity we have endured over the years up until now....what a ride!

A fair few have come to say 'sorry it didn't work out'. Yet, I don't see it like this. All things in life eventually come to an end...like this little shop (physically anyway). And handing the keys back today I really felt the decision was right, in every single way.

I don't see closing as a failure. I see everything we created as a community, each customer, team member and stockist, as having created an incredible rebellion against society as it is. We reduced plastic yes, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. We created real change. Together. Change that has and will continue to make a real impact.

I'm forever grateful for each person who made this happen. From the first online & event customers, to those who really believed in my dream and donated to the crowdfunder, to the team members throughout the years and of course to all our regulars who kept the physical store running for so long 😻 I thank you.

Special thanks to my dad for literally building the shop, then taking it all down (probably the hardest and most laborious part of the entire shop itself!) And too my mum for making so many beautiful hand sewn items for the shop too...and of course to all my dear friends like Nat and Jade who have helped from day one until the very end! Thank you all. You literally made this happen and what it is.

It's with both sadness and relief I inform you that our physical shop in Walthamstow is closing down. It's been something we've been on the edge of for quite some time now. Truth is, most small sustainable high street stores are really struggling and have been for a while. I'm sure we all know the many reasons why, so I'm not going to say much regarding that at the moment. And once I knew Amber was ready to move on, it gave me the green light to close.

I'll share more about this entire process over the coming days but just wanted to firstly inform our faithful and wonderful community we are closing. For the foreseeable we will still be doing events and selling online (which is exactly how I started) but our last day of trading in our Walthamstow store will be April 28th. Until then I ask if you can please support us as much as possible (in-store & online) 🙏🏽 🌱
We will have lots of equipment for sale too (Kilner jars anyone?!) so if there's something you might like to purchase off us, come in and let us know 😊🌱

🌙Medicine Festival 🌙
I started Greener Habits over 5 years ago now! And it started from just a little seed planted whilst in Bali. A desire to make the world a greener, kinder place. Where the things we make, sell, buy or use are kinder to us, the planet & all other non human beings. Placing planet, people & animals above profit ♥️
I started out completely alone, just offering a small amount of products online & did any market stall or event that would have me. I carried my stock on public transport, in Ubers, on my canal boat (where I also used to pack orders 🤣), & halted my nursing career plus many other things to make this work. I used all of my savings to purchase stock, to pay for market & festival stalls & also to open the physical shop. I hardly had a salary the past 4 years!! I've been blessed with amazing friends & family supporting me, & incredible team members along the way too. 🌙
Recently I thought we may have to close. But thank goodness for 😭 The past week took me back to the roots of how we started, mainly doing events, & we did so well it's going to really help us carry on.

I'd also just like to say I fully feel myself at these events. In my element. And adding products like the hand painted range from India, the hand made recycled notebooks, & the tarot and oracle cards amongst other things feels like fully adding a essence of who I truly am to the shop. 🌙
The shop is ever changing, just like me & all of us actually! But one thing for sure is that we will always place community, the planet, people & animals above profit. We are proof business doesn't have to run as usual....we are the change makers. 🌙

Hey folks, we hope you’re all keeping well and enjoying the sorely missed sunshine 🌱

Just giving you an update on our Easter hours, we will be open Good Friday, and the Saturday, then we shall close for both Easter Sunday and Monday to give our team a much needed break to fully switch off from the shop 🌱

We will be open as usual from Tuesday 11th. Thank you so much for all your continued support and we shall see you soon! 🌱

Happy International Woman’s Day Folks!

Amber here, I just wanted to take a moment to celebrate the amazing woman who founded this small business! 🌱

Hannah is one of the most compassionate, caring & driven people me and Seb have ever met. It’s all of these qualities & more that drove her to start Greener Habits, to provide an online & physical place for folks to find ethical, cruelty free products to make small but impactful changes, one step at a time 🌱

Prior to starting my journey here over 2 years ago, I’d followed Greener Habits on social media for at least 12 months. Even living on the other side of London, I was desperate to come to the shop & meet her because of the sheer enthusiasm + dedication she portrayed on a daily basis. Meeting her in person was a day I won’t forget, we animatedly chatted for about an hour, I pored over the interesting products in store, & it felt like home 🌱

A few months later, boom, we were a team! She took me under her wing in a way I can’t imagine anyone else would have in the circumstances, & I’m eternally grateful. Working with Hannah means I get to do exactly what I’d dropped out of uni to do + more, as well as working with someone who genuinely cares for me as a friend, not just a colleague. She’s truly a Gem 💎 and if you’ve met her, I’m sure you think so too 🌱

(Seb has read what I’ve written and said -minus my personal anecdotes- that’s exactly how he feels too 🥳)

So thank you to everyone who’s supported her, and the shop, because it gave me the opportunity to meet her, and that’s pretty darn special 🥰 Three Cheers for Hannah! 🌱

Amber, Hannah & Seb here, just taking a moment to say thank you! (Seb’s a bit camera shy but we’ll nab a picture with him soon enough)

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us this past year and kept us going, to the OG regulars and all the new folks joining us, excited to support a small business and reduce their environmental impact at the same time! We appreciate you all so much 🌱

It has definitely been a year full of learning, challenges, highs, lows, well just all of it! It’s definitely been tough both mentally and financially, but we’ve survived thanks to you all! Safe to say we needed the Christmas break to rest, recuperate and relax so that we can come back refreshed and ready for the next year 🌱

We’ve got lots of plans and hopes for our community shop as well as online, so keep an eye out, and here’s to another year of us making greener choices, one habit at a time! 🌱

We will not be doing our usual late night on the Thursday. Only 12-6pm between 28th-30th. Then we’re closed again until the 3rd and will be back open as usual from that Tuesday 🌱

We hope you all manage to get a chance to rest and recoup over the next few weeks, and as always, thank you so much for supporting our little community shop 🥹🌱

It’s our 3 year anniversary! 🌱

You heard us folks, it’ll be our three year anniversary of the shop and we want to celebrate with you! 🌱

If you’re in the area, please join us at Crate 5-9pm, where we shall have drinks, nibbles (provided by our amazing Baker Tanya and goodies from Beaten By a Whisker around the corner!), samples of our amazing vegan cheeses + Shala Kombucha (we’ve got a chilli flavour coming especially for you folks who’ve missed our scotch bonnet refills to try)🌱

We will have a late night shopping hour (7-8pm) where we offer you 10% off of food products and 20% off of non-food! So it’s a perfect time to do some Christmas shopping or just do a cheaper food/household top up 🌱

We will also have a section for donations for you to either bring your own (in date) food donations as well as a section of things you can buy in store (at a reduced rate) so we can support food banks as much as possible this Christmas! 🌱
