Having cheered on hundreds at the weekend people kept asking if I'd run it next year! I'm not sure I could manage it, but should definitely volunteer to cheer again!

Happy World Toilet Day! To celebrate, we’d like to share a wee innovation with you. Thanks to a partnership with UWE Bristol and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation we’ve developed a toilet that can generate electricity from urine. Very soon, we’re hoping to use the technology to light toilets in refugee camps – turning dark and dangerous spaces for women in particular into safer, more dignified environments.

In a world where nearly 1 billion people don’t even have access to a toilet, innovations like these really will change lives.

Much like the wonderful Roald Dahl's eponymous Protagonist Mathilda, we love books. And it's no coincidence we want to talk about the creator of such books as Dahl's today - Thid very special day, . Here's to the great man who inspired many children to read and still does to this day. And that's just from the amount of his books that we always sell. Whether it's Dahl, Moby Dick, Beast Quest or Byron, we have it all in our little shop on the hill, open today 11-4.
