Advice for creatives
If you are a creative, whether you are an artist, a fashion designer, a photographer, an influencer, a model or have any type of creative outlet; we know how extremely hard it can be to be in the public eye. You are constantly confronted with solicited or unsolicited external validation or lack therefore.
Yet your artistic sensitivity is at odds with it. You cannot be creative if you constantly seek validation. The only validation you need is the one that comes from within. No one ever stands out by conforming to other people's expectations. Standing out by definition is the antithesis of standing in. You cannot stand out while being like everyone else.
Being different comes with its own set of challenges. Some will love you, some will hate and some will try to tear you down. Those who see in you what is lacking in themselves will either be inspired or triggered. Those who are triggered will inevitably try to tear you down. Some will mock you, laugh at you, belittle you, demean you, gaslight you and try to get a reaction out of you. Others will troll or harass you. Some will go as far as wanting to silence you . They may intimidate you, smear your name or attempt to tarnish your reputation. But at the end of the day what really matters is what you make of it. Take all the love, all the hate, all the hurt, all the pain and make something out of it.
That's what true artists and creatives are! A mirror reflecting back to the world what they see. Your creativity, your skills, your talents are all the tools you need to stand out. You don't need to engage, explain or justify and you don't need no one's approval or validation to exist. You exist and on some level being yourself will always trigger those who see in you what they cannot see in themselves. How they react is a reflection of them and their internal reality, not yours. Do not let it drag you down or stop you. Lead by example. Rise above and be the change in the world that you want to see.
Never let anyone define you. You become unmesswithable when you do not need external validation.
