I've worked with Charlotte Bezzant Jewellery on her branding, both for her Jewellery business and the new Kings River Studio brand. So happy to hear Charlotte has launched KRS - please pop over and give her new business follow, it'll be well worth it!
In 2018, I came up with the concept for a whole little handmade micro brand Kingâs River Studio. I was throwing ceramics, making candles, stitching in linen, and this âorganicâ range of jewellery was designed just for it. I then realised I couldnât run two things at the same time and these styles became incorporated with my general work. Now weâve turned a corner into a new decade, itâs time to give Kingâs River Studio itâs wings & let it fly. One of my big concerns is our đ and also the amount of âgreen washingâ there is around, where retailers try & project their products as more eco friendly than they actually are. KRS will use only recycled gold & silver and at the moment also Fairtrade gold. (Iâve been a registered Fairtrade goldsmith since 2016). Despite claims many jewellers might give you about âethical gemstonesâ the reality is that there are only a handful of audited mine to market gemstone suppliers in the whole world, so I have decided to give gemstones a wide berth at KRS. (There are some very committed ethical jewellers who do use genuine, and at a premium, truly ethical gems.) Iâve decided not to logo print KRS boxes so they can be re-used. Obviously I already operate my business (and life) paying attention to environmental impact, questioning everything, avoiding chemicals recycling waste, using paper not plastic packaging etc I havenât quite worked out how Iâll manage things yet - there wonât be a separate page but there is an Instagram account if you want to follow my new but parallel journey. (All I need to do is work out how to use the account thatâs been dormant since 2018!) x
