We couldn't agree more.
So v**es.
I live in California where s**t is tested pretty thoroughly. The v**es that had harmful adulterants were black market cannabis v**es. “But Scibabe,” I hear you say, “why is there a black market when it’s legal now?” Because taxes are through the roof so producers skip testing and still sell black market v**es for a third the price.
From what filtered down through the industry, a lot of growers failed biological testing (i.e. their pot had mold). Beyond the chances of added adulterants, you don’t know what a grower is trying to avoid in testing by staying on the black market, whether it’s a banned pesticide or something growing on the pot from a lack of pest management.
And of course, there are those adulterants. At this point, it’s understood that vitamin E is the additive causing illnesses and deaths from va**ng. Everything is a chemical. Vitamins are just chemicals. They have their uses in the body. This doesn’t mean they are safe for every route of administration. I haven’t found anything yet on the science of the danger of vitamin E in va**ng, if someone has that info I will happily add to this.
So, it’s unknown untested black market cannabis v**es causing the issue and the government is banning... tested flavor additives from ni****ne v**es. Of course. Mmhmmm.
Is va**ng “harmless” for you? It’s less bad than smoking. We can’t say yet if it’s 100% harmless, but you do reduce a major risk when you eliminate incinerating the product. If you’re going to v**e something, look into your state and (and federal) regulations to make sure you’re getting a safe product.
And please don’t get them from a friend who “knows a guy.” That’s how you get a v**e full of vitamin E oil.
