I’ve always been an avid earrings collector and a bit of a hoarder, which means I still have earrings I got 20 years ago. Even so, looking at my collection a few months ago I thought I don’t have enough really fun earrings. So I’m now on a quest to make a bunch of fun earrings.

What makes a pair of earrings fun for me? Dangliness is a big one for me. I love moving my head and feeling or hearing them move around. Focusing on this aspect alone, there’s a lot of room to play. I like feeling them move around, but I don’t want them to be heavy. Copper is light and also versatile, which makes shaping it not that big of an undertaking.

Now, what’s a fun shape? Well, going back to the movement and combining that with my love of nature, butterflies are a no brainer. These earrings are going to be like tiny familiars flying by your side. But that isn’t yet fun and whimsical enough.

There’s a fey touch needed to make these dangles design truly take flight. I don’t know about you, but when I think of magic I visualise sparkles and explosion of colours, especially if we’re focusing more on the fairy magics variety.

But how to choose a colour? Well, I didn’t have to. With a crystal briolette added to the wing, not only do I maximize dangliness, but I can capture all the colours. This little prism can’t wait to capture rainbows any time the light touches it. Fun!

These beautiful danglies are also very versatile, so wear them to a party or to the park when you’re walking your dog, to some fancy ball or the corner shop. God, I could do with some ginger beer right about now.

Wait… what if I make ginger beer bottle earrings? Don’t those sound fun? Gotta go jot that down. Bye!

It measures 4.7 cm in height and 2.3 cm in width and comes on a 48.6 cm copper chain that closes with a hook clasp handmade by myself.
