this summer we are once again taking part in 📚

From 23rd May to 20th June, we’d love your donations of new and used children’s books. We’re teaming up with The Children’s Book Project, which will get your books into the hands of children who have few or no books of their own. The Children’s Book Project is a registered charity that directly tackles childhood social, emotional and educational inequalities by gifting beautiful new and pre-loved books to children in our most under-served communities. This year the Children’s Book Project will gift one million books across the UK. Help us share the joy of reading!

kids books only and only until the 20th June so bring us those books pronto !

🙌 bEn’S bOoK oF tHe wEeK 🙌

very much enjoyed I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY by Jem Calder - an achingly bang-on modern romance (?) novel for fans of Perfection & Rooney. Reminded me a lot of Will Wiles too.

An age-gap relation-/situation-/deflation-ship in a city that may or may not be London, rolls through its full cycle. Do we need another of these novels? Probably not - so it best be a good one. Luckily, this is excellent. The real grab here is the prose style - clean, clear and funny and with key-hole surgery levels of emotional accuracy. If you’ve felt adrift in the modern world (who hasn’t?) this novel will reflect yourself back to you, like your dark laptop screen the second after you finish a Zoom call.

enjoy!

📍 The Review Bookshop, Peckham

Join the highly acclaimed author of Dreamland for a special event celebrating her sensational new novel, My Only Boy, in conversation with writer and broadcaster Octavia Bright.

An unforgettable love story and gripping state-of-the-nation thriller, My Only Boy follows Elle and Ed as an unexpected attraction forces them to question everything they thought they knew about desire, identity and themselves. Bold, beautiful and cinematic, it is set against the backdrop of a country on the brink, as an extreme-right coalition rises to power and London swelters under record heat.
