In 2014, we had the privilege of delivering the sound for Dolly Parton’s unforgettable Pyramid Stage performance, in front of a crowd of 180,000+

The songs, the stories, her humour and that voice! We all watched in awe as she held what became one of the biggest crowds in Glastonbury history in the palm of her hand.

One of 12 children, Dolly came from very little and went on to become one of the world’s greatest songwriters, performers and philanthropists, without ever losing sight of where she came from.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have played a small part in one remarkable moment of an extraordinary life.

Meet our Will.

He’s been with us for a year, joining RG Jones in the warehouse before moving into his current role a as Trainee Engineer.

With a background in recording, mixing and production, Will has a great ear for audio and is now putting those skills to work in live sound.

Pictured here, thrown into the wild on the Atrium Stage at Wilderness Festival 2026, where he rose to the challenge and proved himself more than capable.

He’s bilingual, into snowboarding, plays guitar, loves music production, has zero tolerance for bad cable management and, we think it’s fair to say, the best hair in live sound.

One year in and very much part of the team. Watch this space.

Demand for wireless technology across live production continues to grow, whilst the spectrum available to support it is becoming increasingly constrained.

As part of our centenary year, we worked with TPi Magazine to bring together perspectives exploring how RF working practices are adapting to rising demand in a shrinking spectrum.

From greater reliance on wireless to the planning and coordination now required long before arriving on site, the discussion looks at what this changing landscape means for live production today and in the future.

And it’s always a pleasure to see Steve Carr.

Steve grew up at RG Jones, learning from the best in the business. He’s since built an incredible career, working at the highest level across international tours and festivals.

Now he’s the mentor, passing that experience on to the next generation.

Systems Engineering at the very top of its game.

We talk a lot about the engineers at either end of the multi. FOH serving the audience. Mons serving the artist.

But underpinning all is the systems engineer. And there are some seriously good systems engineers at the top of this industry. Damien “Damo” Dyer is unquestionably one of them.

His work starts long before site. Working with the project manager/system designer, prediction software is fundamental to modelling coverage, interrogating the design and understanding how the system should behave before a loudspeaker is deployed.

Then prediction meets reality.

Alignment. Phase. Coverage. Transition zones. Subs. Frequency response. Then add the space itself. Terrain, wind, temperature gradients, humidity, atmospheric absorption and eventually thousands of people.

And that’s before you consider what the system is ultimately there to deliver. The promoter and artist rightly expect a flawless delivery. Visiting FOH engineers deserve to walk up to a system and infrastructure they can trust. The audience expects an exceptional experience (and when the sound is truly right, most won’t consciously notice it at all). They’ll simply be immersed in the performance. And on an outdoor show, all of that still has to be achieved whilst working within agreed noise limits beyond the site.

The Systems Engineer sits across all of it.

Anyone who’s worked with Damo knows his approach.

Prevention, not cure.

Nothing assumed. Everything critical verified. Failure points anticipated. Contingencies in place. And usually another contingency behind those.
Prediction provides the model. Measurement provides the data. Knowing what matters, what to change, what to leave alone and what could happen next comes from experience.

Damo has decades of it and that is Systems Engineering at the very top of its game.

The Dance of the FOH Engineer

One final mix. One final bow.

As the , under the baton of Rigby, take their final bow at the Leeds Castle Concerts, they deliver a spectacular finale to an extraordinary chapter.

At FOH, Chris Bedall. Systems Engineer, George Beevy. At the other end of the multicore, Jake Moore on mons, with support from Harry Honywill and Maciej Kopka.

For more than four decades, RG Jones has been proud to provide sound for this magical performance.
