Stunning new Eden Project × Just Trade collection 🌷

Our jewellery has been stocked in the Eden Project gift shop for several years now, so when they approached us to develop a bespoke collection to coincide with their 25th birthday celebrations, we couldn’t have been happier.

The collection takes inspiration from three very different plants found at the Eden Project: Mimosa pudica, Coffea arabica and Anigozanthos – Kangaroo Paw.

We chose to interpret each plant using a different jewellery-making technique, bringing out the character of each in its own way.

Each plant comes from a distinct environment, and we wanted to honour that diversity by interpreting each one through a different jewellery-making technique.

The glass beads reflect the striking colours of the flowers of the Kangaroo paws, while the skilful cutting and hammering for the Mimosa designs is reminiscent of its intricate, delicate leaves.

The coffee leaves presented a new challenge. We went through several iterations, experimenting with different textures, folding and rolling techniques before settling on the final design. The result is lightweight and wonderfully light-catching and once again, Lizet and Naty from Hope Jewellery have absolutely nailed the perfect finish.

The backing card features beautiful illustrations by Just Trade’s own graphics team reflecting elements of each of the plants that inspired the collection.

20 years of Just Trade! 🎉

July is our birthday month and looking back, it’s been quite a journey: full of hard work, more than a few challenges, lots of milestones and some of the best people in the world.

When we started the business 20 years ago, our mission was simple: to provide fairly paid, flexible, part-time work for women living in the shanty towns of Lima, Peru.

We wanted to create opportunities that fitted around family life while celebrating the value of craftsmanship and collaboration.

From those early days, we’ve grown far beyond anything we ever imagined, now working with more than 200 artisan makers across six countries, many of whom rely on our orders as their main source of income.

Our commitment to Fair Trade has remained at the heart of everything we do. As a Guaranteed Member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and a proud member of BAFTS Fair Trade Network UK, we work in line with the 10 Principles of Fair Trade, prioritising fair pay, safe working conditions, gender equality, respect for the environment and long-term partnerships built on trust.

As a family business, we feel incredibly lucky to have such wonderful customers, talented artisans, trusted partners and a brilliant team.

Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or have only just discovered us, thank you. Every purchase has helped support makers, their families and their communities.

So excited to see our Frida Kahlo-inspired hand earrings at Tate 😍

These artisan-made earrings were created exclusively for the Tate Modern to accompany their new exhibition, Frida: The Making of an Icon (running until 3 January 2027).

Each pair is hand-cut and polished from aluminium by the talented metalwork team at Hope Jewellery in Lima, Peru.

Launching the Vari Collection to celebrate our 20th birthday!

We think that two decades of collaborating with artisans in 6 different countries to make fair trade, handmade jewellery and accessories is well worth celebrating and we’re fully intending to keep the party going for as long as possible!

First up, a brand-new jewellery range to mark the occasion. The Vari Collection beautifully showcases the skills that the women of the Flowering Desert project in India have learnt over the many years we’ve been working together and we couldn’t be prouder of the results.

Each piece is hand-cut from brass sheet and finished with a specialist planishing hammer, giving each one a distinctive linear texture. This hand-finishing also means no two pieces are ever quite the same.

Available to pre-order exclusively Faire during Faire Market, starting next week: 21st -23rd July (with insider early access from 20th July).

Laura and Ali had a fantastic day at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery yesterday, leading a workshop for visitors to the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition.

They taught participants how to make cross pendants from recycled cans, transforming discarded materials into unique keepsakes.

The workshop was inspired by Ozzy’s iconic cross pendant, which was made for him by his father from recycled aluminium and held deep personal meaning throughout his life.

It was a real privilege to connect with visitors celebrating one of Birmingham’s most beloved icons and to share the creative process of making together.

We were so impressed by everyone’s creativity, and it was wonderful to see each person put their own unique spin on their pendant.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day so special.

✨ Opening today: Frida: The Making of an Icon ✨

We’re delighted to share our new earrings, created exclusively for Tate Modern to accompany their new exhibition.

The design is inspired by a remarkable story: Pablo Picasso gifted Frida Kahlo a pair of earrings shaped like hands, and Frida later immortalised them in a self-portrait, wearing the distinctive design.

For this special collaboration, we’ve reimagined these iconic jewels as a contemporary pair of earrings, available exclusively through Tate

Each pair is hand-cut and polished from aluminium by the talented metalwork team at Hope Jewellery in Lima, Peru.

One of our favourite details is the tiny fingernails, carefully added by Lizeth using a specialist punch. It’s thoughtful finishing touches like these that bring every pair to life and celebrate the craftsmanship behind every piece.

We are delighted to share that Ali has been appointed to the BAFTS Fair Trade Network UK Board.

As a long-standing member of BAFTS Fair Trade Network UK since 2007, we are passionate about supporting and strengthening the fair trade movement.

Ali’s appointment to the Board is a recognition of her experience, dedication, and commitment to ethical trade.

With nearly two decades of experience in the fair trade sector, Ali brings valuable knowledge, insight, and enthusiasm to the role.

We know she will make a significant contribution to the Board and help shape the future of fair trade in the UK.
