Advanced time-traveling civilizations mock humanity’s limited technology, yet they face challenges of their own. Life is quantumic, and tampering with time threatens its structure—hence their human abductions.

Ariwoye reunites with former colleagues, seeking a way back to their original timeline. To succeed, they must navigate the Queen of the Aliens’ vault and choose the correct time-travel egg. Only the Queen knows which egg works, her bioelectronic mind far surpassing human cognition.

This is where the story takes a toll on your adrenaline! How do you steal from a Queen of fringe technology who wields telepathy and can read minds? To pull it off, the humans had to wait for her moment of weakness, during a system upgrade. They stole the pill-sized eggs, each so dense it felt as if made from the matter of a neutron star. Àkàlàmàgbò, the ground-hornbill landed few yard from us and turned into an irresistible beautiful woman indeed. Her jet black hairs were packed in neat lumps on her head like Edo women. Even the red goitre hanging down her neck became beautiful red beads worn by bride on her wedding. She was clad in ẹtù bluish-grey woven cloth, gracefully wrapped around her from her chest down and tied in the middle by another piece.

We told her of our mission, but she refused to help us because Àjàká did not part ways with her on good terms the first time he came there as an apprentice wizard. According to her, she had conspired with Àjàká and transported him out of the ìkòkò, for he had escaped from Ọmọ-Oníkòkò who had wanted him to stay forever in his world. Listening to her made us understand the danger of not having the other party’s story. Àjàká, our king now, had told us a different story from what Àkàlàmàgbò said, so we need to confirm who was right and who has spoken the truth.

Ọmọ-Oníkòkò is said to live in the famed cauldron mountain to the east of Atẹ̀lúbẹ́bẹ́. The mountain got its name from being shaped like a cauldron facing down. As a result, no one has been able to climb the mountain to the top; for it is slippery and awkwardly shaped. Àkàlàmàgbò, the mythical ground-hornbill carries visitors to the top on its back. That is after you have crossed the mythical river of Ṣẹ́lẹ̀rú that flows in circular form around the base of the mountain. The enigma is that river Ṣẹ́lẹ̀rú is both a water-spring and a waterfall. It flows out of and into a ring of two circular crevices at the base of the mountain.

Off we dispersed the next day into the jungle to go in search of the wizard. We got to the foot of the mountain and met the famed bird circling the mountain with her eerie calls. All the villagers who had led us to the mountain fled when they heard the sound she makes, remaining only we the warriors who set out from Ọ̀rọ̀yọ́-ilé. Well, except one man, whose name was A-pọ́n’jú-abẹ-lá.

Chapter 2: The Fate of the Legendary Serpent

We retired into one small makeshift shelter on the plain of Rògbòdìyàn, but we could not sleep throughout the night as Olúfàderè, even though miles away, could still be heard howling like a tree hyrax all through the night. Indeed, we have rattled the snake. Very early in the morning we called a meeting to re-strategize. First, we had to learn about the story she was referring to during the battle. There we learnt that her husband was Òjòlá-ìbínú whom human beings, through their cunning ways trapped and killed because of the unfounded allegation that he kills and eat humans. The truth was that both husband and wife were hunters, killing games for living. They sell their kills at the market of Èjìgbòmẹkùn. However, because they always have rare and oftentimes needed animals or animal parts to sell, jealousy soon started against them in the market. And soon it was revealed that when they get to the forest, they turn to huge python, coil up a tree and wait for their game to pass by. Then they will fall on the prey suddenly like ẹ̀bìtì, and crush it to death under their weight. They will then transform into human, bring the kill back home to sell or eat.

Chapter 1
On The Plain of Rògbòdìyàn with Olúfàderè

"I am Olúfàderè, wife of Òjòlá-ìbínú, slain by you humans long ago. I stand here today to avenge his death."

"Èmi ni Olúfàderè, ìyàwó Òjòlá-ìbínú tí ọmọ aráyé pa níjọ́sí. Mo dé lónìí láti wá gba ẹ̀san ikú ọkọ ọ́ mi."

Her voice was cold and hollow, chilling us to the bone. If her delicate form failed to convey the magnitude of her threat, the thumb-sized fangs that glistened beneath her lips certainly did, and the deep, unnatural red of her eyes spoke of nothing but a thirst for the bloodiest vengeance. Each of us felt the weight of her fury, and a foreboding dread hung heavy in the air.
How had we wandered into this savage heart of darkness, where bloodthirsty monsters and unrestrained brutality reigned supreme? My heart pounded as I thought back to the beginning, to where our journey had started, in a time that now felt like a distant dream. It was just three months ago, in the peaceful and prosperous city ruled by our king, Òkò-Àjàká ọmọ a jà bí òwèrè. The city had been calm then, a second chance for our king to reclaim the throne that had once slipped from his grasp.
