‘SUNDAY 25 JANUARY 2026 A BOTTLE SHARE AT THE RAKE FROM 2PM – 6PM OR BEYOND’
Aa we said before It is now some 10 years since we lost one of the leading lights of the UK beer revolution – Glenn Payne – and it would seem a good time to recall his life and influence on us as individuals, and on the beer scene as a whole.
We have been asked by a few people if we could host something at The Rake at Borough Market in London that was, in many ways, his home from home (when not staying in some of our actual homes!).
For a minimum £1 donation (more is obviously welcome) you will get a wrist band and all the money will be donated to Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales (https://www.welshwildlife.org/ ) the area where he liked to be out and about in.
We’ll be raiding our own cellar and others, including beer writers and other industry stalwarts, will also be breaking out some of their own beer big guns for you to try and, of course, you are welcome to bring your own special bottles to share in Glenn’s memory.
The Rake will be providing glassware, though you are also welcome to bring your own on this occasion, you can feel free to bring food in from the market, or why not stop by your favourite supermarket and select a yellow sticker item! and don’t forget to bring a water bottle!
We have set up the email below to let us know if you are interested in attending, just so we can keep an eye on numbers. We would also ask if anybody has any anecdotes, stories or pictures they are happy to share, please send them to the same email but with Subject - Anecdotes - we will display them somehow.

Please feel free to pass this on to anybody you know who knew Glenn and would like to celebrate his time with us.
