It’s September 1st and it’s the beginning of a new term and a new faze for Knit Knack Shack.

I’ve had a couple of months to regroup and spend time with my family. We had a lovely holiday in Cinque Terre,Italy, and then the wait for gcse results, and we needn’t have worried as they passed them all! Couldn’t be prouder. The next chapter begins!

A couple of friends have started a craft studio in called and they will be running a Friday Fibre Feast every Friday for you to bring along your projects and sit for a couple of hours and enjoy a natter with like minded people. They will also be running workshops in various crafts so if you want to learn something new or brush up on long lost skills, Sofia and Nessa will be able to help you. Please give them your support. It’s not easy starting a business from scratch so start following them on Instagram and keep checking out their classes.

I will be trying to sell off the rest of my yarn and needles etc on various platforms so if there’s anything you need,message me here.
I’ve closed my website so here’s where to find things. I’ll be putting posts out every day till it’s all gone!

So, I’m nearing the end of Knit Knack Shack in its current form. The actual shop will close tomorrow.

How am I feeling? A lot of customers have asked me that over the past month. Well….. I’m feeling ok. The nearer it gets the more I know it’s the right thing to do for me at this moment in time. I’m not saying I won’t shed a tear or 2, but I’m comfortable with my decision.

I’ve learned so much over the past 3 years,about myself, how hard independent shops have to work to survive,about business,about yarns,the list goes on and on.

Knit Knack Shack will continue in the autumn. I’m having a couple of months off wool to focus on wigs, and then I’ll be back!
Please stick with me, I appreciate everyone of you and your continued support would mean the world!

Here are all the different sock yarns I have and I’ve introduced a 10% sale.

As you know, I’m closing at the end of the month so I need to sell as much stock as possible.

There will be other yarns at other discounts next week,but bare in mind that to cover my costs, I can’t give it away.

I know it’s boiling hot at the moment, and knitting and crocheting are not top of the list in the heat, but think ahead to holiday knitting (socks/gloves are a perfect small project to travel with) birthday gifts,Christmas gifts. Never to early.

As I’m closing at the end of the month, I need to sell as much as possible. Hopefully all of the stock will go. At the moment I’ve put all kits and books at 30% discount.

Is it too early to think about Christmas presents?? Of course it isn’t. Christmas will be here before you know it.🎄

Are birthdays coming up? Of course they are ! Well,get ahead of the game and grab a bargain!

I’ve got mixed emotions about the shop going. I’ve loved every minute of it and there will be tears I’m sure, but my mind is moving in mysterious ways and I’m thinking about how Knit Knack Shack can change and continue.

Don’t give up on me, I’ll still be posting on here,continuing my story with whatever comes next.

Almost 3 yrs ago to the day, I got the keys to my lovely yellow shed and Knit Knack Shack was born.

I had no expectations and I thought it would last until Christmas 2020 and then Covid would have gone and my job would have returned. How wrong was I?

Fast forward 3 yrs and things are quite different.
Knit Knack Shack has become a community, a popular independent yarn shop in North London,but unfortunately I’m no longer in a position to keep it going.

It’s with a very heavy heart that I’ve made the very difficult decision to close my shop. My prepandemic job has come back and for the past 15months, I’ve been juggling 2 full time jobs and I can’t do it anymore. The shop ticks over and covers all its costs, but in 3 yrs it’s not paid me a wage, every penny has gone back into the business. It needs 3x the customers every week continuously and to achieve that it needs someone with more time than I have. I’m in a Catch 22 situation, I need a wage and it’s the wigs that pay me a wage,I’m not in a position to give that up.

So, reluctantly the shop will close on Friday 30th June. Please pop in and say hi/goodbye before then. All the stock must go!

It’s almost half term and if like me,you’ve got a teenager doing GCSEs then you’ll welcome the break!

It’s hard being a teenager,lots of expectations that school/society put on them. It’s really not fair.
So I’m planning a day out trawling round second hand shops looking for black trousers for prom night (how things have changed!) I don’t think we had such a thing at my school,back in the day,but correct me if I’m wrong Kineton High Schoolers! It was a very long time ago!

Anyway, if you need to escape,these 2 pieces were knitted in yarns from my shop, a lovely customer brought them in last week to show me.

We have new classes on offer on our website for knitting and crochet. Now the sun’s out, what better way to relax than sitting in a garden or park using your crafting skills. It helps alleviates the mind and calm the soul. The concentration required helps distract and the texture and colours aid the mood. The rythmic motion can help lift the spirit.

Roll Up, Roll Up………

Things will be changing soon at Knit Knack Shack, the classes that I’m advertising today will be the last ones for a while, so if you’ve been thinking about learning to knit/crochet or spin, now is the time to book.
There will be 4 places for each class, if you’re a group of friends more than 4, I’m sure we can accommodate you, after all it’s a great group activity and a fun evening out.

Here’s the info!

Beginners knitting course with Nessa.
Wednesday evenings 6.30-8.30pm, May 24th/31st and June 7th.

Granny Square Top/Bag course with Nessa.
Wednesday evenings 6.30-8.30pm
June 14th and 21st.

Casting on and Casting off techniques with Sofia.
Saturday 20th May 1-3pm.

Spinning on a drop spindle with Sofia.
Saturday 10th June 1-3pm.

I have a couple of other dates available and I’m giving YOU the choice of either knitting socks or something else…..let me know your ideas!
