Today I turn 50. What a ting? considering that when I was younger, I was obsessed with the writings of Nostradamus and thought I would be wiped off the face of the earth at the tender age of 24 in the year 2000 when the Beast kicked off Armageddon. But somehow I'm still here, older and wiser(some people might question that lol).

I give thanks for the life I have lived so far and those with whom I have shared it. There have been many laughs along the way and a fair number of tears. But I am still here, putting one foot in front of the other, eyes facing forward. I hope I will continue to live in this next era with purpose, contentment and grace.

Move over Jessica Fletcher, Miss Hortense is here! Picked this up last weekend at the and this murder mystery set in 90s Birmingham amongst the Caribbean immigrant community has had me in a chokehold. Secrets, lie, pardner hand,dominoes and lashings of rum cake! Patiently waiting for the TV adaptation! well done

the beauty of is not just the wonderful programme but seeing familiar faces. It's a bookish family reunion. I don't even know where to start with how wonderful yesterday was so prepare to be sick of my posts! lol So many wonderful moments thanks to the team and and yes I saw Tabitha Brown twice and that's my business! A steadily growing celebration of Black literature and congrats on the announcement of the new publishing company! ❤️🖤💚

Super Saturday ! After a whistle stop tour at the , it was time for the private event with at the O2 Blue room. Thanks to the generosity of and I got a ticket to this very special event . I was beyond excited. Aunty Tab helped so many of us get through the pandemic and I even wore the mango dress from her Target range to my book launch for "Mari Loves Mangoes". What a life affirming event and 's hosting skills were superb . I look forward to reading both her and Tabitha's new books.

🐝 I’m so excited to be a selected artist in the Species Stories creative commission in partnership with (, .kulasinghe, , , , ,  .

🐦For this commission, I will produce an original short written creative piece, created in response of the Barbastelle bat and then a digital version of the work. 

✨The written work will then be used this autumn to inspire children in schools across and around the South Downs to try creative writing as part of a writing competition! 

I’m looking forward to showing you what my colleagues and I create!

Flashback to a lovely Saturday afternoon spent doing book readings and chatting with the little ones at The Black Cultural Centre in Islington thanks to who have in residency until 11 May.
