Posters up on the London streets for Camille Summers-Valli new short film ‘Untitled Woman’ which will have it’s world premier at TIFF next month. Always great to see something that you designed physically existing on the streets. Thanks to Libby for her work on this one 👏

‘Creative Writing’ by David Shrigley is coming very soon. Can anyone spot the typeface? David’s painting of the cover captures the same spirit if you look closely at the two lower case ‘g’s and compare with slide 2 which shows the actual book cover. Those who know, know...

Printed, bound, and published in 1922, when paper was in short supply, this book uses waste sheets from other publications in its construction. These sheets were glued to spine of the book block before the case was attached, remaining hidden beneath the spine. If the spine becomes detached, this concealed fragment is revealed as in the case here of ‘Elementary Equitation’ by Barettode Souza. Published by E. P. Dutton & Company, New York, 1922.

Found at the aptly named ‘Unnameable Books’, New York.

This and other books form S P I N O R A M A, a project about interesting book spines by Fraser Muggeridge and Aslak Gurholt

As a result of my research into the use of Daniel Buren’s stripes in printed matter reproduced at actual size (8.7cm), I have noticed that the format is sometimes derived from an exact multiple number of a stripes. Here are some examples for your viewing pleasure:

1 stripe
Billboard, Jack Wendler Gallery, 1972

2 stripes
Daniel Buren, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, 1990

3 stripes
Repertoire, Center for Contemporary Art CCA Kitakyushu / Korinsha Press & CO., LTD., 1998

5 stripes
Farbige und Vielfache Eindrücke, Neuen Museum Weserburg Bremen, 1999

6 stripes
Passage, Edizione Artesudio, 1972

7 stripes
Du Volume de la Couleur, Centre d’Art Contemporain de Cadillac, 1985

8 stripes
Point de vue Ascendant, Travail in Situ, Interface, 2023

9 stripes
Buren, Wide White Space Gallery, 1974
