Statement
WGCOM confirms that Devon & Cornwall Police have now paid two County Court judgments following civil claims arising from the handling of seized property.
The most recent judgment, for approximately £7,000, was paid after the matter was pursued through the court process. WGCOM did not back down and took the matter head on.
This has now followed a pattern. WGCOM has faced a third warrant and a fourth seizure, yet each time the position advanced against the business has ultimately fallen apart. Despite repeated action, the authorities have still failed to secure any conviction against WGCOM.
Serious questions remain regarding the conduct surrounding the seizures, the handling of exhibits, and the treatment of material said to be relevant to the case. In particular, concerns remain about evidence handling, including items being returned in error and material that should have been properly disclosed, retained, or accounted for.
WGCOM is also pursuing complaints and legal remedies in relation to the conduct of five officers, whose actions have been accused of the most serious wrongdoing. Those matters are being actively pursued through the proper channels.
In light of the history and the outcomes already obtained, WGCOM’s position is that any further unjustified action against the business will be viewed very seriously and responded to in full.
Despite already losing two civil cases, Devon & Cornwall Police chose to target the business again. WGCOM’s position is clear. It will not be bullied, intimidated, or pressured into abandoning legitimate claims.
Further complaints and legal actions are already in motion, and several officers are currently under review through the appropriate processes.
WGCOM will continue to pursue accountability through lawful channels until the full position is brought into the open.
Further updates will follow.
