Seeing as I’ve just been featured in The Filter via The Guardian again this weekend (hurray!) it felt like a nice time to share a few more of the recent reviews I’ve had!

Quite genuinely getting a nice review on TrustPilot makes my entire day. Thank you so much if you’re one of the lovely people who have taken time to leave one. 💜

Going for a slightly different approach this Earth Day. I was about to make a graphic that had lots of little easy sustainable swaps but there are only so many times someone can tell you to get a reusable bottle and to be honest most of us have already done a lot of the obvious ones. But one of the things that gave me anxiety when I was trying to swap out everything I could was the idea of treating myself to nice things every now and then. Should I feel guilty about indulgence if I felt I needed a pick me up? Surely baths are out? No more little treats, right? Wrong! There are only so many battles we as citizens can fight. If we do everything we can, if we recycle and consume mindfully and refill and reduce, it’s ok to have a bath once in a while instead of a quick shower. It’s ok to make your bedroom smell nice, it’s ok to have chocolate and crisps and drinks! All these things are available in more sustainable ways! And those versions are often MUCH nicer than their non counterparts!
Go to for your bath treats, try for your nice smells, give and your snack spots (amongst many other options!), is delicious! Fancy a shopping spree? Do a thrift shop trawl! I’ve a shop right by me and have got some of my best outfits from there! And a huge shout out to across the pond 💜
You can hop on a bike or a bus or a train to have an adventure! Use up ancient things to make a cake! I put some 4 month old stem ginger I found in the cupboard into a loaf cake with two geriatric bananas and it’s delicious and non toxic. (Obviously proceed with caution on the ancientness of foodstuffs, but if it smells ok it’s probably ok!)

I don’t want to encourage overconsumption of course, but if you’re in the market for a little gift you can find an Earth Day discount code for the Sustainable Book Club if you swipe through this gallery. As I say, we can care about the planet and live consciously and still have nice things. It is possible!

Welllll what have we here?? Christmas boxes? From The Sustainable Book Club? Sustainable gifting that’s a delightful wholesome treat? That is RIGHT, planet lovers! They are here and they’re raring to go. Four festive offerings that are sure to delight, with sleigh bells ring ding dingalinging like nobody’s business.

First up, it’s everybody’s favourite little pixie, the Sustainable Stocking Filler. She’s the Letterbox Tea Break’s Mariah Carey-singing cousin and she’s bringing all this energy to the function. Perfect for a friend, family member or secret Santa.

Second and third we’ve got the Original and Vintage Boxes… but do you want a little extra festive flair with your classic? Then you can Pimp! That! Box! These are the OGs that you know and love but zhuzhed up for their office Christmas party. You can even go in extra hard and get an actual Christmas-themed book for the Original if you want!

Completing the line up, living its best life, it’s the Christmas Deluxe Box. The pièce de résistance, the most festive of festive things, it’s absolutely packed full of goodies alongside a pre-loved Folio Society or decorative antique tome.

All these boxes are available NOW to pre-order, for shipment in the week commencing 17th November. There are only a limited number of each available so what are you waiting for? Head over to sustainablebookclub.co.uk and get yours now! Go on!

(P.S. Did I mention our recommendation in the Guardian?!)

Ho ho holy moly, I can’t believe it’s already nearly November.

After battling with my technical deficiencies, my shop is now available to browse on both Facebook and Instagram! (I thought it already was but it turns out it was not. Why is life hard.) Anyway, should you be so inclined you can browse my products here in your Facebook app... hopefully. 🤞

After getting this notification this morning I posted the screenshots of my reply on other socials, just to get more people in on the chat, honestly. It’s really good to start conversations, because that way we can all work together towards a brighter, cleaner future. So if you’ve got any questions at all about the company and about what else I’m doing to offset emissions and remain sustainable, get in touch!

It’s my Feature Day with !

I’m so grateful to Not on the West End for all the help and support. From the moment I emailed saying ‘Erm, hi, I’ve set up a business?’ till right this second and into the future, Anna has absolutely had my back, and the community of creatives behind the other businesses has been such a wonderful support and friendly presence throughout this mad year.

I’m genuinely so thrilled to be a part of it.

Go on over to the Not on the West End account to see the posts about me, as well as the posts about everyone else! If you want to share, save, comment and like any of the posts as well then that would obviously be much appreciated. But mainly just look on in awe at the mass of creativity that will not be stopped just because the world is on fire.

It’s Love Your Pet Day!

I mean, EVERY day is Love Your Pet Day, in my opinion.

But to celebrate it, here’s my little Smokie (the Sustainable Dog) in one of his favourite places, on top of the sofa, just chilling out with some bookshelves made of wine boxes.

This little dog was absolutely the best dog in the history of dogs and I miss him such a lot. Even thinking about him still stops me in my tracks with grief sometimes. Bereavement comes in all sorts of places and ways, and none is less valid than another. My parents are dead and yes, I grieved hard for them, but that doesn’t make the loss of this little ball of pet perfection any less devastating.

I’m just saying this so that you don’t feel alone, or silly, for the grief you might be feeling today as people post endless photos of their alive pets. If that’s you, then hi! Hello! I feel you.

I’ll leave you now to figure out the logistics of this. How did he get up there? Why did he get up there in the first place? Why did he love it up there? What is going on?

I am absolutely delighted to announce that my charity for 2021 will be the wonderful Cruse Bereavement Care .

I initially set out to give a small donation if possible to Acting for Others when I started this business in October, and the amount I was able to give in the end was above & beyond my expectations.
Although will still be the recipient of 10% of profits from The Theatre Box, I’ve decided I want to help as many close-to-home charities as I can, and Cruse is about as close-to-home as I can get.

When my mum died in 2011 I honestly thought the world had ended. I couldn’t get out of bed, I didn’t know what to do with myself, either at that moment or in the future that I saw stretching ahead of me without the support and friendship I had received from my brilliant, *brilliant* mum.

I can’t remember how I found Cruse, to be honest. I do remember how hard it was going to the first meeting. And how every week after that I always dreaded it, and would have to really force myself on to the tube to get there. But when I was in that room, with my excellent counsellor Julie, I could - with absolute truth - purge my thoughts & feelings, however dark they were, without judgement. Without feeling like whoever was listening would be bored of me going on and on about it. Without worrying if I was ugly-crying.

It was by far the best thing I could possibly have done, and without them the loss of my mum, and subsequently my dad, would have been even more of an uphill struggle than it already was.

At the moment they are contending with the inability to have face-to-face sessions whilst also having a massive increase in demand for their services.

We are all in such a state, so many of us are needing to deal with an unbelievable amount of grief, and in the midst of this desert of utter chaos, Cruse can offer an oasis, even if it’s only for an hour a week.

10% of profits from all items I sell in 2021 will be donated to Cruse, with the exception of The Theatre Box which will continue to support struggling artists in this time of crisis via Acting for Others.

Merry Christmas one and all!
🎄🎁🎉 🍾
I have been virtually silent on here for ages, my apologies, but after the Christmas RUSH I was essentially a co**se, so I needed a rest.

Whilst we all come to terms with what this Christmas will be, I hope we can think of the issues highlighted in Charlie D’s excellent story, and do our best next year to fight Ignorance and Want.

In the meantime, let’s try and emulate *this* guy the best we can, wearing outrageous dressing gowns, being a bit pi**ed and surrounded by piles of food all over the floor. And... a didgeridoo? Is that was that is?

“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach.”
