New Vintage Release of La Peyre Rose has landed at Roberson!

Deep in the Languedoc Hills, Marlene Soria has quietly built a legend.

La Peyre Rose is a cult wine estate located in the hills of Saint-Pargoire, between Montpellier and Béziers in the Languedoc region of southern France.

The estate is run by the enigmatic and fiercely independent Marlène Soria, who originally worked in real estate before turning to winemaking in the 1980s when at the time of Marlène’s first vintage in 1991, Languedoc wines were largely considered substandard table wines.

Today, the estate has grown to 25ha, with 70% of the land dedicated to red varietals. Small parcels of Roussanne, Rolle, and Viognier are blended to make the incredible ‘Oro,’ aged for at least a decade before release. ‘Clos des Cistes’ and ‘Syrah Leone’ are both Syrah dominant, with the grape comprising 85% of the blend. In ‘Clos des Cistes’, the balancing agent is Grenache, while Mourvèdre helps ‘Syrah Leone’ sing.
Wines often age for 10 to 15 years before release, first in tanks/barrels, then in bottle. This means that the current releases are often 10+ years old.

The vineyard is managed organically, and the wines are made with minimal intervention. Many practices resemble biodynamic methods, though it’s not officially certified as such.

The estate produces a very limited number of wines, but they are known for their extraordinary aging potential, complexity, and structure.

Recently, after protracted legal wranglings with the authorities, Marlène has had to rename and reclassify her red cuvées as Vin de France ‘Les Cistes’ and ‘Belle Léone’ from release of the 2011 vintage. Much to our delight, however, the wine in the bottle remains identical.

Powerful, elegant, and unmistakably Peyre Rose.

Now available “Oro”2011, “Les Cistes” 2015 and “Belle Leone” 2015.

Since being introduced to California during the 1850s Gold Rush, Zinfandel has grown to become California’s heritage grape and the third most planted variety in the State.

Its friendly, plush nature and wide range of styles make Zinfandel an extremely versatile food companion.

This summer we’re excited to join the California Wine Institute in celebrating Zinfandel as the perfect summer grilling partner.

Clair de Brumes, our newest finds from France 🇫🇷

Clair de Brumes is the exemplary Pouilly-Fumé estate of the acclaimed Saget family.

The Saget family is proud of its historic birthplace in the village of Pouilly-sur-Loire.
Clair de Brumes invites you to immerse yourselves in a magically atmospheric cloud settled along the banks of the Loire...

As the sun comes up, a light fog embraces the still-slumbering vines. The stars fade gently away, bringing the mist to the foreground of a captivating canvas. These morning mists are both a source of mystery and inspiration.

Présage is the introductory wine to their range, a blend of multiple sites which cover the varying terroir of the region. Gently fermented and aged for 8 months in stainless steel, this is a wonderfully light and refreshing example of Pouilly-Fumé.

Les Roches is sourced from a 1.01ha plot of vines growing on rocky limestone terrain along the banks of the Loire. An early-ripening, southwest facing vineyard, the fruit from this site yields perfectly ripe grapes ideal for crafting dense, radiant Sauvignon Blanc

Aléofane is a name that Natacha Chave - scion of the renowned Chave family and sister of fellow winemaker Yann - borrowed from Scottish-Kiwi author John Macmillan Brown. The name- meaning ‘gem of truth’ - is that of an idyllic island where wine is in equal parts virtuous and devious, an apt summation of Natacha’s bottlings. Respecting the time-honoured laws of the Northern Rhône, yet imbuing her wines with a superb uniqueness thanks to her arduous manual work and biodynamic techniques.

Her efforts in the vineyard and winery may be best described as a labour of love. Work is meticulous and entirely manual, with a passion for the environment emphasized by biodynamic practices. Ever searching for her gem of truth, vineyard treatments are holistic, prepared from native spices, oils, and plants.

Winemaking is notably non-interventionist, with sulphur use kept to a minimum and native yeast fermentations. Harvest is done by hand, with the grapes partially destemmed prior to fermentation in vats, adding an element of intrigue and mystery to her already bewitching bottlings.

The Saint Joseph is from vines near Tournon in the south of the appellation, planted on granite and matured for 12 months in demi-muids and barrique. With a nose of dark plums and gentle violet notes, the Saint Joseph delights with layered hints of plums, blackberries, and gentle oak flavours.

The Crozes-Hermitage is from 50-year-old vines grown on clay and galettes. It sees the same 12 months maturation, this time exclusively in 600 Lt demi-muids. Dense and concentrated, the intensity of this wine is belied by the beautiful balance Natacha so expertly elucidates.

The Cornas comes from Massale selection vines, planted 380m above sea level, and aged out in demi-muids. A powerful wine full of spice, the sings with florality and notes of mocha and pepper. Her wines display a delicate yet distinct sense of feel and place, true expressions of not just Syrah.

We are thrilled to announce the latest edition to Roberson Portfolio collection !

Founded in 2017 by the trio of Kyle Jeffrey and (now) husband-and-wife duo Brad and Miriam Jonas, Minus Tide is the realization of years of friendship and assiduous effort. Having met a decade prior while studying at the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, the three spent their student nights dreaming of a winery amongst the towering old-growth redwoods and dense fogs of Mendocino County.

The spirit of Minus Tide is deeply rooted in their name. A reference to the extremely low tides of Mendocino County. Specializing in the creation of elegant, balanced wines revelatory of the distinct, coastal, and rustic vineyards of Mendocino, the trio behind Minus Tide has rooted their project firmly in the land they call home.

Working exclusively with sustainable and organic vineyards – the majority of which are dry-farmed – Brad, Miriam, and Kyle source distinct fruit characterized by high natural acidity, the intensity of flavour, and cool climate balance. In the cellar, minimal intervention practices are key, yielding stunningly refreshing wines of unrivalled purity, delicacy, and intrigue. Highly reflective of site and terroir, each wine is a sort of vinaceous love letter to the land of Mendocino.

🚨Domaine Ste Philomene🚨

*New arrival - perfect timing for a late summer*

Nestled in the heart of Provence, Domaine Sainte Philomène is an ancient estate brought to new heights by the de la Perrière family. From elegant rosés to a unique Provençal white, their wines reflect the region's characteristic freshness, coastal minerality, and timeless elegance.

Emmanuel and Dominique de la Perrière, along with their son Geoffroy, have breathed new life into the historic Domaine Sainte Philomène. The estate, established in the 1850s, was taken over by the family in 2005. Emmanuel, originally a cereal grower and Charolais breeder from a Beaujolais wine family, and Dominique expanded the vineyard from 13 to over 25 hectares, amidst 500 ancient olive trees. These olive trees also contribute to the production of top-quality olive oil, protected under the Coteaux d'Aix en Provence AOP. Son Geoffroy, a graduate in viti-oenology, now leads the winemaking, marrying tradition with innovation.

Viticulture/Winemaking Style

While initially the family divided responsibilities, Geoffroy now manages the entire estate, from the vineyard to the cellar. His approach involves harvesting and vinifying each plot individually, starting with cold stabilisation to preserve freshness and delicate colour through direct pressing. This results in accessible wines celebrated under the local AOP Coteaux D’Aix en Provence. The offerings, including their Valentino, Philippine, and Adele wines, encapsulate the unique taste of Provence, marked by a characterful saltiness and freshness.

Grape Varieties

Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Vermentino, Ugni Blanc, Grenache Blanc.

Fun Fact

The estate is named after Saint Philomena, who was highly regarded by the Saint Curé of Ars and linked to many of his miracles. The wines, on the other hand, carry personal family names - 'Valentino', 'Philippine', and 'Adèle' are named after the eldest grandson, Geoffroy's wife, and eldest granddaughter, respectively, underlining the strong family ties at the core of the estate
