πŸ“£ Important Announcement πŸ“£

Dear friends and supporters,

We hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits! πŸ’œ We wanted to update you on some exciting developments and share our future plans.

🚨COMPETITION TIME!

🎧🀟 Join the movement!

Founded by Troi "DJ Chinaman" Lee, Deaf Rave was born from a visionary idea: to provide a platform where Deaf, hearing impaired, and disabled artists could showcase their love for music.

In 2003, Troi experienced discrimination when he and his friends were denied entry to a club because they were Deaf. This injustice fueled his determination to create the UK's first deaf rave, where exclusion has no place!

Deaf Rave brings entertainment to a diverse UK and global audience through music, sign, and captivating visual performances and the team aim to unite everyone through a shared passion for music while educating people about Deaf Culture.

Deaf Rave runs school and community events and workshops and unforgettable events incorporating state-of-the-art sensory vests and haptic flooring technology, allowing participants to immerse themselves fully in the music and feel its vibrations.

You can see them perform on 10th August for their 6 hour stage takeover at , as well as on 21st October when they celebrate their 20th anniversary at

Adaptista believes that everyone deserves equal access to creative expression. So to celebrate with Deaf Rave in their 20th anniversary year, we’re offering one lucky winner a free Level 1 & 2 British Sign Language (BSL) online certificate course!

A majestic moment in British history!πŸ‘‘

Today we witnessed the coronation of King Charles, and it was a sight to behold!

The stunning regalia and uniforms worn by the royal family and members of the military were a true work of art. 😍

Did you know that these ceremonial outfits were made by some of the finest suppliers in the UK?

The Crown Jeweller's team at Garrard & Co. crafted the iconic St Edward's Crown, which weighs more than 4 pounds and is encrusted with more than 400 precious stones.

The Jewelled Sword of Offering, which symbolizes the king's authority, was made by royal goldsmiths, Rundell, Bridge & Rundell, who created this sword for the coronation of George IV in 1821.

But it's not just the regalia that is impressive. The uniforms worn by the military are equally stunning. The Household Cavalry, for example, wore their traditional red tunics and plumed helmets made by Kashket & Partners, with other regalia for military and horses made by Firmin & Sons.

The Royal Air Force wore their iconic blue uniforms made by Hainsworth who have made these over the past 100 years.

It takes incredible skill and attention to detail to create these beautiful garments, which are a testament to the UK's rich history and traditions.

What a special day for Britain! Long live the king! πŸ‘‘πŸŽ‰

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. James Barry, a Cork-born surgeon who achieved groundbreaking medical advancements and played an important role in shaping medical history.

Born in 1789, Barry displayed an interest in medicine and anatomy from an early age. He went to study at prestigious medical school, where he excelled and became one of the top students in his class.

After graduating, he joined the British Army as a medical officer, where he quickly established a reputation for skill and dedication.

Over his long career, Barry achieved a number of impressive firsts. In 1815, he became the first British medical officer to successfully perform a c-section, saving the lives of both mother and child. He also was the first physician to be Governor of the Cape Colony in South Africa, where he made huge contributions to health initiatives in the region, including improving hygiene & sanitation practices, and starting vaccine programs to prevent the spread of smallpox.

But what makes his story even more remarkable, is that he lived as a man despite being assigned female at birth.

He took the name James Barry, and his gender identity was not discovered until after his death in 1865, making him one of the earliest known examples of someone living as a gender other than the one assigned at birth.

Despite many challenges and discrimination he undoubtedly faced as a trans man living in the 1800’s, Barry was achieved incredible things in medicine, paving the way for generations of medical professionals.

Today, we honor his life and legacy, and recognise the important contributions he made to medical history and the LGBTQ+ community.

And we love you and support you!

Happy World Autism Day! Today, we celebrate and recognise the unique strengths and talents of autistic people.

Here are some helpful tips for making the world a more inclusive place:

πŸ‘‰ Be patient and understanding. Autism can make it difficult for individuals to communicate or navigate social situations, but with a little patience and understanding, we can create a more welcoming environment for everyone.

πŸ‘‰ Practice sensory sensitivity. Autistic people may have heightened senses or sensory processing difficulties, so be mindful of loud noises, bright lights, or strong smells that could be overwhelming.

πŸ‘‰ Offer support when needed. If someone with autism is struggling, offer your support in a non-judgmental way. This could mean helping them find a quiet space to relax, offering to help with a task, or simply being there to listen.

πŸ‘‰ Celebrate differences. Every person with autism is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and interests. By celebrating these differences, we can create a more inclusive and accepting society.

πŸ‘‰ When a child is having an autistic meltdown in a public space, it can be really overwhelming for the parent. As a friend or supporter, your calm and non-judgmental presence can make a very big difference. Listen to the parent and ask what you can do to help. Maybe you could offer to find a quieter place for them. Don't forget to encourage the parent to take care of themselves too, and remind them that it's okay to seek professional support if needed. It’s amazing what a supportive word or friendly smile can do for a parent in a time of stress.

With a better understanding we can all make the world a better place for!” everyone!
