Happy 1st June.
I love weddings and seeing all the lovely details today’s brides and grooms include in their special day. My wedding, almost 37 years ago was very much a homemade affair. Most of the wedding buffet was prepared by my family- all well practiced cooks and hosts. Mum also altered my dress and made numerous pink tablecloths from white sheets that she bought secondhand from in the weeks before the wedding. My mother in law made the floral centrepieces and arranged for the cake to be made. My Nan, who was in her 80s wrote out the little cards for my sugared almonds in her beautiful handwriting. My best friend created a beautiful swag from pink netting all the way round the huge buffet table, decorating it with pink roses. The bar was organised by my husband’s uncle who ran an off licence in Chingford. In the bar was a shellfish table- jellied eels, cockles whelks etc as hubby’s side of the family are from the East End. Juxtaposed with the plastic bowls containing the eels, was a beautiful dressed salmon from my sister’s godfather worked there - they also prepared some delicious Coronation Chicken. My boss at the time took a surprise video of the wedding ceremony- Oh and Dad provided lots of wine for all the tables, spilling some in the back of a black cab on the way home from a bottle he had in his jacket pocket- and there was almost a punch up between a couple of the guests back at my parent’s house- would I change a thing? not a chance.

You can spend ages setting up a photo and it’s rubbish because of bad light. Then, more often than not, you snap something, as I did here to remind me what I’ve made before storing - the light’s fabulous.
Destined for Spring Fayre this Saturday & Sunday 11am- 5pm.

It’s got really dark here now, so colours shown here are a little duller than in reality.
If you are gripped with an overwhelming desire to see these (or me) in the flesh- and to marvel at the myriad of delicious colours and designs - you will find us Spring Fayre on 20th or 21st May 11-5pm.
Forty Hall, Forty Hill, EN2 9HA, where we will be keeping company with over 50 other stalls.

Less than three weeks to go till the coronation. It just so happens, the day coincides with a few special family birthdays. We will be descending en masse -where else, to celebrate in true Royal style- do you have any special plans?
This purple and gold wooden crown sign is suitably regal and will be joining a celebration in Worcester Park shortly.
