This weekend we had the pleasure of visiting “The Last Princesses of Punjab: Sophia Duleep Singh and the women who shaped her” exhibition at Kensington Palace, London.
It was moving to see an exhibition honouring the legacy of Maharaja Duleep Singh’s daughters, showing their struggle and impact on society. What was striking was the clear split between worlds - on one hand their past lineage of rulers of Punjab, on the other an English aristocratic life. Yet amidst the possibility of comfort & royalty, they chose revolution.
Princess Sophia’s & Princess Catherine’s roles in the Suffragette movement was so interesting & the artefacts on show really got that message across. It was also fascinating to learn about Princess Bamba’s return to Lahore as well as being able to explore the life of their mother, Bamba Muller.
“The Last Princesses of Punjab: Sophia Duleep Singh and the women who shaped her” is available to visit now & will be on until 8th November 2026.
And of course you knew it, we’ve got a reel dropping very soon! If you want to read about Princess Sophia Duleep Singh then check out these two books on our website today:
