"Everything that happens in the
Universe starts with Intention."
- Deepak Chopra
How do you currently move your body? With intent?
With purpose? With love?
Many of the women and men I come across move their bodies with anything but that.
They move their bodies only because they want to
change it a certain way, or they are punishing
themselves for treats they've had, or because they
know "they should."
However, the body speaks. Loudly. And if we listen to
it, it will repay us in kind.
Imagine you had an intense strengthening session
planned for today. You've been sticking to your
routine diligently and are willing to "tough it out"
100%.
But due to stress from work, only 5 hours of sleep,
and an argument with your partner. you wake up
completely depleted.
So you tough it out, depleting you even more. Or you
skip it, which invariably makes negative self-talk
slowly creep in.
In either case, that negative thinking arises because your body still WANTS to move.
The question is… did you ask it how?
If you did, you might hear back that the body is asking for a long walk in nature, with some music that day.
And even though you had planned that session, you fight against the limiting belief that "you aren't doing
enough", and you take that walk.
How rejuvenated might you feel then?
The opportunity to strengthen the body will always be there. But YOU won't if you continuously run
yourself into the ground.
Ultimately, your body know's it needs. At different times of your life, your body is going to need to be
moved differently, and it's your responsibility to tune
into that, trust it, and respond.
Your body doesn't need to be punished into submission. Treat it with kindness, love and respect,
and it will love you right back.
If you allow flexibility and deeper intention with your movement, instead of rigid black and white thinking, you will find that you actually stay more consistent.
And that's because you are allowing it to actively
replenish, instead of stopping all together and then
beating yourself up.
