These white lilies are absolutely stunning. In the winter we have to use every trick in the book to get them open to use in a funeral tribute, but these have beautifully opened naturally 🤍

Here are some important tips regarding lilies....

☠️😾 They are extremely poisonous to cats. Lilies should be kept away from cats 🐈

🌿 We always remove the stamens. They can stain the petals, clothing and carpets. We remove the stamens by gently pulling them off, ideally before they go powdery.

🌿If you do get lily pollen on you or the carpet, don't rub it in, use sellotape to lift it of.

🌿If you like lilies but not the scent, then ask for a Asiatic variety instead which is unscented.

Wedding season is in full swing now!!! Recently we have had two weddings at The Seaview East Preston. One was a great example of the client supplying containers they had found, these seashell vases were brilliant 🐚 Perfect for a seaside location and they didn't take up too much room on the table and were set off beautifully by the blue table runner that looked like the sea🌊

The second in contrast was in a warm orange and yellow theme, there was a tropical twist in the large arrangement with the the Bird of Paradise, a nod to the the bride being South African.

I absolutely love this dreamy wedding bouquet 😍

I created this for a bride back in May. It was perfect timing as the Ranunculus were just coming to the end of their season and the Peonies were just starting theirs. It is special to have seasonal flowers, however this can be nerve racking for us!

Something to cool you down after the extremely hot weather we have been experiencing!
This spray is so beautiful, created with a selection of soft delicate flowers in shades of blue and white.

If you have flowers at home make sure you recut the stems and change the water💧frequently, strip off all the leaves below the water level, place out of the sun 🌞, mist them over with water, we even put ice 🧊 in the water to keep them cool!

Twenty years ago today I took over as owner of The Flower Shop. June is a special month for me, just after finishing my GCSEs and turning 16 in June 1991 I started full time employment at the shop which means this week I also celebrated 35 years in floristry 😲

I had no idea back then that I would take over the shop and end up dedicating my life to it.

So much has changed over the years but a lot has stayed the same, I have always sourced the best flowers I can, created the best floristy I can, give the best value for money, been the best employer I can be.

This has paid off because I have so many comments of how long our flowers last, we have many repeat customers and team members who have stayed with me for many years 😊

It certainly hasn't been easy but I'm glad that 35 years on I still love what I do ✂️💐
The Flower Shop wouldn't be here without the support of my loving family, amazing team, past and present and of course our wonderful customers ❤️ I would like to thank you all, from the bottom of my heart 💕
