Great to see Corina this morning looking cool in the heat in her latest make! The William Morris design looks lovely but her decision to do the sleeves in a broderie Anglaise takes it to a different level; she wasn’t sure at first when she’d finished it but we think it works really well, particularly as she has lined the embroidery perfectly on both sides! Gorgeous Corina, thank you for sharing ❤️✂️❤️✂️

The lovely team at local charity St Barnabas has been in touch with us to ask if we could let you know about a volunteer...

The lovely team at local charity St Barnabas has been in touch with us to ask if we could let you know about a volunteering opportunity… of course, we agreed! The sewing group’s aim is to help St Barnabas Hospice, and they have been completing projects to help the patients and staff at the Inpatient Unit. For example they recently made liners for the laundry on the ward. They have also been making patient gowns. They are looking for volunteers who can confidently use a sewing machine.

It is all machine sewing and St Barnabas says they would welcome a new volunteer or two who is happy to help such projects and also support any new visitors who would like to learn to sew with the machines. The group also supports anyone with a palliative diagnosis or their carer, or anyone who has experienced a bereavement.

That’s everything we know BUT please contact them if you’re interested or have questions - all details are on the Infographic. And please let us know if you join! This could be a lovely opportunity for someone who loves sewing, and wants to sew more!

A beautiful collection called 12 Days of Christmas arrived on Friday, but I’d forgotten it also had a number of panels with it! The collection isn’t shown here but we’re highlighting the wonderful panels, the type of things you make for yourself or a family member and it becomes a part of your family tradition, coming out each year. Treasured and special. We’re flagging these up now as you may want some time to make one or all of them! There’s a block panel plus ornaments, stockings, tree skirt, drawstring bag etc. You’re welcome to pop in for a look and of course let us know if you’d like something posted. All under £18. ❤️✂️❤️✂️

Had to share Jo with you! A few weeks ago Jo came in, she’d seen a dress she liked and she wanted to replicate it. She chose this wool blend. So far, a pretty typical and normal occurrence in this shop…. Having worn it out last night she popped in with it this morning to show us. Turns out, she hasn’t sewn for many years, had no pattern, and worked it all out herself studying the screenshot of the dress she’d seen. She drafted a pattern with some tissue I had wrapped her wool in, measured herself and unpicked bits until she’d got it right. Worked out how to line it. At one point had to go and sit on her garden to try and think how to do parts of it rather than giving up! She bought some fabulous buttons. Fantastic!!! Well done Jo, and thank you for letting us share your story and your beautiful dress. Be very proud ❤️✂️❤️✂️

You probably know we sell festive fabric all year round, so this is a very gentle note that our Christmas 2026 fabric has started to arrive and is flying out already. If you were waiting for the new designs, there’s a good choice already with more to come. As it’s still summer we won’t start posting about it just yet! Many bolts £8 / £9pm (the collection on this reel arrived today and is £18pm with panel at £11.50). ❤️✂️❤️✂️
