Small business share Sunday! Today we shout about my own business. The Candy Garage turns 4 years old next month. Entering its 5th year of trading. Started from a £30 idea turned into a most recent turnover of £109k in sales 😮 (triggering a vat registration 🤦‍♀️) it’s been 4 years of hard graft and not taking a single foot off the gas. Building, upgrading my work space whilst trying to remain as cost effective as I can. No investment, no guidance, just persistence, consistency and many hours working under national minimum wage 🤦‍♀️ no all jokes aside. I am incredibly proud to be ‘that’ business owner. I’m very proud of all the achievements The Candy Garage has achieved, in just 4 years we’ve purchased 3 business vehicles.. (causing headaches) not new and shiny, secondhand and ropey but they are mine 😍 spending near on one thousand pound to implement a click and collect system. Working with some large companies not just locally but from across the UK (some wish to not be named) but I sit here and look at what we’ve done and I’m still mind blown. From it just being me to now having a wonderful employee. In the world of business I’m smaller than an ant floating in the ocean, but we are surviving on a tiny raft in a time where it’s incredibly hard to run your own business. The cost of living crisis hitting harder than ever. But I’m not looking for employment just yet. So something is going right. All of this would not of happened without the incredible support I’ve received over the years. From my brand ambassador shouting about my ‘brand’ to my partner and our friend building the foundations of The Candy Garage, to local stockists stocking The Candy Garage, to every customer choosing to shop with us. To my employee working hard to and filling in the gaps when my health doesn’t play ball. I might be the owner but it’s backed by a huge village pushing it forward.
Let’s just summarise:
A £30 initial investment
A business owner with a health condition M.S.
A busy mum with a child who doesn’t sleep
But we did it and are doing it.
So many more plans and goals to hit.
