Free parking in Lewes on Saturdays in December!

Lewes Chamber of Commerce is pleased to report there’s FREE Car parking in 14 of the Town’s Pay & Display car parks (not on street parking) on Saturdays throughout December, starting TOMORROW.

Lewes District Council (LDC) have agreed to offer day-time free parking to pre-Christmas shoppers in a bid to attract visitors to the Town and support our independent shops and eateries.

It's a bit short notice for signs to be up for tomorrow, but LDC have assured us the parking charges will not be enforced in the 14 car parks they operate and signs will be up in time for the remaining three Saturdays.

THE CAR PARKS THIS APPLIES TO:
Brook Street, Cliffe High Street, East Street, Friars Walk (not the 3rd or 17th due to Farmers Market), Little East Street, The Maltings, Market Lane, Mountfield Road, Phoenix Causeway, Pinwell Road, South Street (North), Spring Gardens, West Street and Westgate Street.

Chamber President, Clare Crouch, said
“We encourage Lewes residents and visitors from outside the town to come into Lewes and find refreshing ideas that they may not have seen in their own home-town shops.

“This gesture by Lewes District Council is very much appreciated, and we hope that it will give everyone planning their Christmas shopping yet another great reason to do it here in Lewes!”

PLEASE NOTE:
As well as the actual parking meter, REMEMBER DO NOT PAY via the phone or app, when using a participating car park on a free Saturday, as you will be charged and will not get a refund.

Dr Bike Lewes is holding 2 sessions to teach people how to fix their own bikes - its completely free.The idea is that participants bring a bike in, the Dr Bike Team identify any problems and then teach owners how to fix them. They can also cover more routine things like repairing punctures, lubrication etc... or anything people want to know.

The sessions are on Saturday, 29th October and 12th November from 10am - 2pm. Harvey's Rear Yard

These sessions are part of Cycling UK's Big Bike Revival a condition of the funding is that participants provide their names/email address and fill in a survey for Cycling UK after the sessions.
