I may have been absent on socials lately but I’m very much still working on orders behind the scenes but life lately has been HECTIC!

Between staying in burra for the last 3 weeks for lambing, external painting of houses while the weather has been on our side, finishing the renovations for Beachville - our new airb&b, cutting grass at two houses, juggling longer school runs (due to the temporary house move for lambing) and the kids extra curricular activities I’ve been run ragged.

Oh and my grandma (who went back to England after staying with us for 3 weeks in February) had a fall in Newcastle and has been in hospital with a fractured pelvis and broken shoulder during all of this so I’ve been trying to keep her spirits up with lots of pictures and messages as I can’t be there.

Today we welcome our first guests and Beachville and tomorrow I start working with the production team for the TV series “Shetland” again so nothing has slowed down yet! BUT we have moved back home, the end of lambing has arrived (for me!) and I’m hoping to finish the long list of orders for people who have been patiently waiting whilst I’ve been so busy!

I’ll do my best to share a bit more, but sometimes life gets in the way and I’m always happier just working away behind the scenes rather than sharing everything (which is not really very good for business!)

But just look at this gorgeous new baby gift combo ordered by two separate people for the same baby.

That’s the advantage from shopping local, I can cross reference orders to make sure hoops aren’t duplicated and create a beautiful matching new baby gift for you.

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to the world Jude.

Charcoal & Sage

I thought I’d share this lovely Reo hoop whilst simultaneously wondering how it’s Thursday already?!

There’s no official February half term up here in Shetland (which still blows my mind) but it is a long weekend and the chickpeas are off school Friday, Monday and Tuesday. I fwwl like it’s only been a minute since Up Helly Aa and Christmas holidays.

With grandma here, staying with us, renovations at beachville and generally trying to keep on top of life I feel like I’m in a hamster wheel going 60 mph but getting nowhere!

After one glorious day where we saw the sunshine, it’s back to imminent snow forecast up here. Will winter ever end?

I’m hoping to get some time in my studio next week to work on some new Easter goodies… isn’t that exciting!

HELLO BOYS

The grid has been looking very girly lately, but my name hoops aren’t just for girls and there are so many colourways for boys too!

This gorgeous Archie hoop is made in beige and sage and is giving safari vibes.

Another day of wind and rain here (just for a change) but I NEED to brave the elements and get my little dog out for a walk today.

I hopped on the ChatGPT bandwagon and made my caricature yesterday…. And it is absolute chaos but sums up my life perfectly!

Hoping for the weather to ease so I can get to the shed and sand and upcycle some side tables for beachville. It’s frustrating that so many things in life I need to do depend on the weather.

What’s everyone else up to this Tuesday?

🤍 FULL CIRCLE MOMENT 🤍

Last week I went back to where it all began. My first ever proper order.

The beautiful Kacey hoop in seaspray and blush with ditsy floral details. Kacey was just a baby when I made this… she’ll be 7 this year!

After surviving 3 house moves it was looking a bit weathered… but I re made the name and made some other adjustments and it back to looking as good as new.

Without the support of my friends believing in me, this little business wouldn’t exist so thank you everyone for your business and support.

Now, it’s Monday…. So far I’ve spent 10 mins looking for my glasses…. Which were on top of my head (hello 40’s!)

And managed a 30 minute run before anyone is even out of bed, so I’m taking that as I win (after the glasses debacle)

Happy Monday everyone!

NOT JUST FOR BABIES

Good morning & Happy Sunday (from another gale force windy day in Shetland)

I just wanted to share this gorgeous new home gift ordered from me last week. What a special personalised gift, wouldn’t you agree?

What have you got on the agenda today? For us, for a change…. I have absolutely NOTHING to do… except for make a delicious roast and have a family day of board games with the chickpeas.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

H E L L O !

It’s been a minute hasn’t it? I haven’t gone anywhere, I’ve just been super busy behind the scenes and trying to survive the LONGEST January in history!

We got back to Shetland 3 days later than anticipated after Christmas due to the horrendous snow, road closures and cancelled ferries.

Since then I’m between working on lots of lovely orders, I’ve been up to my ears in paperwork for the council for our impending airb&b which is in its very final stages.

So whilst I’ve been quiet on socials and rarely posting, that’s not to say I’ve been quiet with orders so thank you to everyone who has ordered with me this January.

After 19 consecutive days of south easterly GALE force winds, I finally got my little dog out for a walk yesterday and my 87 year old grandma finally made it up from England to Shetland to stay with us for a few weeks.

While Beachville has been top of my priorities through January, I’m hoping to get more time to share some lovely orders with you but I’m not making any promises because every time I say I will, I then inadvertently take a long hiatus and I’m back to square one!

So thanks to everyone who has stuck with me during the radio silence and continues to support my little business.

And here is the gorgeous rainbow cloud made for beautiful baby girl Niyah.

As always feel free to DM for orders. Hope everyone is well!

We are still in the limbo of ‘twixmas…. Or in the words of “merrineum” which is an absolutely amazing way to describe these days.

Yesterday we ticked off our Christmas panto . The best panto by a MILE in any city with dame Bella (Ray Spencer) providing the perfect mix of innuendo, slapstick and ad-lib to what is always the funniest panto around. Worth travelling from Shetland for! While in South Shields, we also had to take a trip to Coleman’s for fish and chips for lunch.

Today we are enduring soft play to try and burn some energy off the girls before a walk along the beach with the dog and generally trying to get organised for new year.

I’m doing my best to share posts but it’s fair to say I’m very discombobulated at this time of year.

What are you all doing with yourselves this “merrineum”?

This beautiful Sonny tractor is beige and sage.

And now I’ve finally sat down with a cup of tea… I thought I’d share this gorgeous hoop with you in lilac and blossom pink.

I can’t be the only one who is utterly EXHAUSTED this ‘Twixmas?! The chaos of single handedly running a small business whilst simultaneously trying to organise and wrap all the presents for everyone and keep on top of the kids social calendars… not to mention getting organised to visit family south in the overnight ferry has been a lot. It’s only now, the big man has been and gone, I’ve realised just how shattered I actually am!

But a mother’s job stops for no one, there are always mouths to feed, clothes to wash, disputes to settle. I’m definitely destined to spend my days as a permanently exhausted pigeon 😂

I’m looking forward to getting back in to a routine and back to my studio. Also welcoming, what I hope will be a happy, healthy, prosperous 2026!

But for now… tomorrow we have got our favourite annual panto where I have been coming since I was a child. And I always live in hope that I might spot when we are back in my stomping ground.

I just wanted to say a big thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your gorgeous orders in the run up to Christmas which has kept me so busy I’ve barely had time to share them.

After a crazy November and December, I’ve had a well deserved break from Two Little Chickpeas and some quality time with the family.

Ill do my best to share some different colourways with you which were custom makes in the lead up to Christmas.

But for now, I want to say that each and every order you placed with me has helped our little family have a magical Christmas. I truly am grateful to all of you.

I’ll be back in my studio in 7 days with a two day turnaround, so now if the perfect time to place an order.

For now, here is Jessie in blush, mustard and duck egg.. a gorgeous colour way to match her sisters hoop. Welcome to the world Jessie.

🌈 C O L O U R F R I D A Y 🌈

Let’s inject some colour back in to this Friday. It’s shouldn’t all be black.

Tomorrow is about championing, supporting, sharing and buying from local independent uk founded businesses and spreading some colourful love.

By shopping independently, not only are you supporting the UK economy, you are buying gifts which are one of a kind, personalised and made with love by hand.

Every purchase makes a small business like myself smile from ear to ear and with prompt personalised communication your orders can be tailored to EXACTLY what you’d like.

So here I am, little old me, mummy of Two (not so little) Chickpeas. Flying the colour Friday flag all the way from Shetland. I’m grateful to each and everyone of you who support my business and continue to buy from me.

By shopping at Two Little Chickpeas, you are supporting a whole family (and one woman’s crazy idea from 5 years ago!) instead of lining the pockets of the billionaires around the world.

Did you know...
If you spend £10 at a local independent shop, it can result in up to £50 more being recirculated in the local economy than if £10 was spent at a chain (because business owners are more likely to spend their money locally)?¹
Small businesses play a crucial role in increasing UK employment rates (employing around 16.9 million people)?²
They contribute £2.18 trillion to the UK economy (around a quarter of our GDP)?³
And yet the UK is expected to spend £3.9 billion on Black Friday this year,⁴ while a million small businesses fear closure?⁵
By opting to shop at small local businesses, you can contribute towards building a more vibrant and diverse economy that better reflects the needs and values of the whole community?⁶
Over a third of people asked said they love independent businesses for their remarkable creativity — especially their originality, imagination and care?⁷
We know 81% of UK consumers said they would consider shopping small this Christmas.⁸ -
