After more than 20 years at Leigh Marina, and after building Brownes Thames Estuary Boat Trips into a successful local tourism business, our berth agreement has been terminated by Thamescraft Ltd, the operator of Leigh Marina.
This has happened after I repeatedly raised concerns about health and safety, access, dredging, navigation and the safe boarding of passengers.
Thamescraft has stated that the termination was not because I raised health and safety concerns. However, I am still asking a very simple question:
What exactly have I done to justify losing my berth?
If there has been a serious breach of my agreement, then I believe the evidence and reasons should be provided clearly and transparently.
Instead, our business is now trying to operate without suitable marina access, making the safe boarding and disembarking of passengers significantly more difficult and putting enormous pressure on the future of the business.
I am also asking Southend-on-Sea City Council, as the freeholder of Leigh Marina, to take these concerns seriously and help establish exactly what is happening at such an important maritime and tourism asset.
This is bigger than one berth.
It is about:
β The future of a working marina in Leigh-on-Sea
π₯οΈ Supporting local maritime and tourism businesses
β οΈ Safe access for passengers and boat owners
π Transparency and accountability
π Protecting an established local business and the livelihoods connected to it
The support we have received from local residents, businesses, berth holders, councillors, journalists and the wider community has been incredible.
But now we need numbers.

Please stand with us. βπ₯οΈβ€οΈ
